Pakistani Indian mehndi designs

Mehendi (Henna Tattoo) is a very old Indian Body Art technique. It is used in designing artistic ethnic or contemporary designs and artistic patterns on various parts of the body, though traditionally applied to the hands and feet mosly of females preparing for special ceremonies, like Eid, karva chauth,  It is completely naturaly prepared from leaves, non-permanent and painless. Once thought only for women, men are finding it a nice alternative to permanent tattoos.

No Indian and Pakistani wedding is ever complete without the Mehendi. Which is a part of both countries the bride may be from, her hands are adorned with the lovely red hue of the mehendi design art work. t is common for the names of the bride and groom to be hidden in the mehndi design; and the wedding night cannot commence until the groom has found the names.

There are many different ways to apply the henna paste on the skin. For example, in Morocco, henna artists often use syringes with a blunt point. The tool of choice in India is rolled up plastic cones similar to pastry piping bags. In Africa, saliva is mixed into the powder and then formed into balls and lumps of paste for a rudimentary application and design.

Another belief is that the darker the bride’s mehendi, the more the mother-in-law will love her new daughter. A bride is also not expected to help with the household work until her wedding mehendi has faded. No wonder that some brides apply lemon juice to the fresh mehndi to make it come out darker and last longer.

Its widely used in Arabic countries also in Pakistan and India. Pak-Indo families living abroad import Mehndi packings from Pakistan and India spacially on special events like wedding, Eid, Diwalli, etc.
