Do Herbal Remedies For Asthma Work?

Asthma seems, over the last few decades, to have become one of the biggest health issues affecting the world's population; part of this concern is the increasing number of young people who are being diagnosed with the condition. Unlike many chronic diseases, asthma can be treated even though it cannot as yet be cured. That does not make it any easier for the many sufferers who find at times they are unable to breath. Respiratory conditions affect the daily life of everyone who suffers with them and severe attacks can even lead to death.

Keeping a constant check on their condition is the most important step for an asthma sufferer. Depending on the condition, there are three main steps for treatment and they are; preventing attacks, relief from the attacks and emergency treatment when a serious attack happens.

Fortunately for patients with only mild version of the condition, no other medication other than a Bronchodilator will be required to provide short term relief. As the seriousness of the condition increases, additional medication is required. Low-dose glucocorticoids or a mastcell stabilizer may be used for patients who still only have mild but more persistent attacks. Oral glucocorticoids will be required for asthma patients who require strong medication for serious attacks. All asthma patients will still be given standard relievers like a Bronchodilator.

By careful monitoring of the asthmatics condition, it should not be difficult to recognize just exactly what it is that triggers an attack. This means that attacks can be avoided if not eliminated altogether. Whilst air pollution may not be the direct cause of this condition, it is recognized globally as having a contributing effect.

Any medication is designed to relieve attacks but long term use can cause detrimental side-effects like fatigue, frequent dizzy spells, impotence, liver damage and depression. Many patients with respiratory conditions are now moving towards natural remedies which do not have these awful side-effects.

The task is to strengthen the weak body systems then soothe and calm the hyperactive systems; this is done by substances called catalysts. By using natural medication, the side-effects are eliminated because they contain natural catalysts to soothe the body and restore it to a calm state.

Some asthma sufferers have discovered the benefits of yoga as it helps to improve their breathing and overall health. Drugs can leave residues which complementary therapies do not and the immune system can be strengthened by nutritional supplements.

So where exactly d herbal treatments fit in? Herbal remedies for asthma have shown some evidence of helping control the asthma attacks in people. However, there are still no conclusive studies on these treatments. Additionally, there is some doubt as to whether the treatment actually works, or if it's just the placebo effect combined with some very individualistic causes.

The only natural treatment other than herbal remedies that has actually shown evidence of being effective is the one based on a combination natural supplement dosage. More details regarding this method can be obtained from Susan Millar's website who is one of the few people who have come up with a supplement based treatment that is both effective, and affordable, through independent research.
