Here come the 80s ! I could not resist . .
65The Bangles
Some videos you may have missed !
To all you hubbers out there I hope you are having a great weekend . And I would humbly like to submit my latest lame effort at being entertaining to you ! I am taking a break from my soapbox and I am not going to write a political hub for you to endure ! I have been In entertainment mode of late . I seem to be getting a somewhat sunny disposition Inspite of myself !
That being said I would like to present to you more of my favorite 80s tunes from that era . I never owned a pair of parachute pants I am glad to say ! But the 80s to me was one of the best musical eras ever ! And I was an active participant In bad fashion and even worse dancing skills !
First off I would like to say that this endeavor was a little tougher then I thought It would be . Mainly because all the really good ones on youtube they will not let you embed . Do they not realize I just learned how to do this ? KILLJOYS !!!
However I did find some Interesting nuggets to present to you and I am going to start with The Bangles . The Bangles came out of LA In the early 80s and were pretty much chief rivals of The Go Gos . They used to call themselves The Bangs early on because It gave them that punk edge . Eventually they turned In to The Bangles and hit their stride by 85 . They are Vicky and Debbie Peterson as well as Susannah Hoffs and bassist Michael Steele . No Silly ! Not Michael Steele the Republican chairman ! In any event I liked that they actually played their Instruments and were not poseurs .And this was my favorite song by them . (I hated Walk Like an Egyptian ! Yuck ! ) So here Is " When the hero takes a fall " Enjoy and dance If you like ! Wheres my dancin partner Ripplemaker ?
Good stuff ! And you can dance If you like !
Man this Is fun!
The Blow Monkeys were one of those one hit wonder types . But the one song they did was pretty good . " Digging your scene " I always thought was a pretty good tune and also a pretty good song to dance too . It came out In about 1984 , a time when I actually thought I was pretty cool Inspite of my bad fashion sense ! The video Is pure cheese like most of the early MTV stuff . But the song was great !
Great tune was,nt It ?
The wild thing !
Tone Loc came around In 1989 with two minor Hits . Funky Colmedina and this one which was just plain funny and a bit of a ripoff on the Robert Palmer video " Addicted to love " But I liked the toungue In cheek humor ! And by the way Tone Loc Is my nickname at the office , but dont tell anybody ! OK ?
Go ahead keep on dancin !
The Cramps .
I had seen The Cramps a few times back In the early 80s when I was doin the punk scene out In West LA . They were not the most talented , but man their shows were fun! They fall under what Is called the psychobilly category . And I loved their drummer . In this video he Is stiff as a statue , and when they played live he was the same . Their guitarist Poison Ivy hails from the Sacramento area . And we lost their frontman Lux Interior at the beginning of this year . Bikini Girls with Machine Guns Is alot of fun . I hope you enjoy It too !
A crazy change of pace for you good folk !
My last entry ! And a little treat .
Jeff Beck Is one of the underrated guitarists of our time . Jeff Beck started as a guitarists for The Yardbirds and was replaced around 1966 by some guy named Jimmy Page who as I understand Is a pretty capable guitar player himself ! The Yardbirds also had a guitar player named Eric Clapton so as you can Imagine this Is some pretty Illustrious company we are talkin about here ! Now Jeff Beck only did a few music videos , but I always thought this one was a nice little treat . There were so many cameos In there It was great fun . Including Dr Joyce Brothers , Marilyn Mccoo of The Fifth Dimension, Herve Villachese whom you might know as Tattoo from Fantasy Island . Also Included are Cheech Marin and of all people Donny Osmond
This video Is pure fun ! And what this man can do with a guitar Is just sick ! He does some really amazing playing towards the end of the video . And you will understand why I am such a fan of his ! Enjoy !!!! :).
A little humor with my music please !
Thats all !
Well I hope you liked some of these . I will probably be getting Into the 90s at a later date . But I want to wish one and all a great day and keep dancin ! Peace out hubbers ! (Non hubbers too ! )

Happy Sunday G-Ma ! Is that man not amazing ? I am glad you liked It . Hugs to you my adopted hubpages Mom !
Man I miss the 80's! It was the last great generation when it came to music. Today everything just sounds the same, no substance, no originality. Back in the 80's, you actually had to have more than one hit song on an album for it to be considered a success. Today, it's all about getting that one song played over and over again on the radio. And rap? talk about no talent. Pressing a few buttons to make sound, and rhyming words--no thank you.
Good Hub tony0724, keep 'em comming!
Dean
Dean my friend I am glad you liked It . I agree that originality Is a lost commodity . There are a couple of good modern musicians , John Legend Is a fine singer . And Taylor Swift Is a very talented young lady . I also like this guy named Ryan Bingham , he Is kind of like old school country In the Johnny Cash/ Hank Williams vein . But again glad you enjoyed It ! And happy Sunday to you my friend !
Wow Tony I thought I had heard them all. Thanks for introducing me to some new songs!
TM It Is my pleasure . And I am glad you liked the tunes ! Happy Sunday to you !
well you had me from the Bangles!!! Excellent job Tony :)
Thank you my dear friend . And I am glad you enjoyed my trip down memory lane ! Happy Sunday Janetta !
Well, that was a nice blast from the past. I actually LOVED the GoGo's, and people used to tell me that I looked like the lead singer from the Bangles. I really liked that song, "Walk Like an Egyptian!" I had never heard the one you chose! Cool hub!
Belinda Carlisle went to my rival High School . I knew her from local parties when neither one of us was famous . She did get famous though ! Me I am still toiling . But advisor I am glad that you enjoyed this! Be well my friend ! Yeah I love that Bangles tune ! Oh by the way I have seen your picture from your first avatar . You are a cutie !
A blast from my past!!! Yeah, I played the vids and danced along and even remembered most of the words. The last one was a treat however, hadn't seen it before. Tone Loc was a fav...nice nickname, I remember it being one of the few I took into the Gulf War with me and wore out.
Happy Sunday, great hub.....Thanks, Sue
Sue I am glad that you enjoyed our little walk down memory lane . Rock on my friend ! :D
Hey Tony!
This is bigtime nostalgia! Ah the memories...anyway, didn't own parachute pants myself and my main weapon of choice is hairgel! Ha!
I kind of like the Bangles, too. Susanna Hoffs was pretty cool - what's that movie she made? Anyway, Hazy Shade of Winter and (cringe!) Eternal Flame top my Bangles list! Thanks for sharing some stuff I'm not so familiar with. But hearing them, well, definitely 80s! :D
Thx Bro I knew you would enjoy these. I am sad to say that some of the really cool stuff they would not let you use here from youtube. Nonetheless I found these entertaining.
Thx for dropping In Bro !
I really liked this tony! I love the Bangles! And I had forgotten all about The Blow Monkeys. Who could ever forget Wild Thing...it makes my heart sing! And the Beck video is fabulous! I've always loved Jeff Beck, virtuoso that he is. Thanks for the great songs. I love your 80's music! :D
k@ri I am so happy you liked It ! The 80s were definitely a great era for music .Keep on dancin ! :D
