The Benefits of Buying Hi-fi Speaker Stands

Music has always played a crucial role in societies far and away. Music, one could easily say, makes the world go round. It is undoubtedly those fascinating rhythms, those unforgettable beats which drive us to dance, dance, dance both literally, figuratively and metaphysically. In this high tech era, the only way to go, if you’re into good tunes, is hi-fi. So what exactly is hi-fi, and why is it better than anything else out there? First and foremost, hi-fi is a completely difference experience. Audiophiles will be the first to chime in that they must have hi-fi, especially hi-fi speakers because it changes the quality of listening. It’s practically a given. You listen to anything in lo-fi or via normal stereo headphones and it’s simply not the same. The aural pleasures of listening are more pronounced when listening to sounds in hi-fi.
So again, back to the question of just what is hi-fi. Hi-fi is an abbreviation which stands for high fidelity. The term high fidelity harkens back to the 1950s when audio manufacturers used it to market their equipment. Hi-fi meant and still means that the reproduction of a sound recording is supposed to be clean and without distortion. It’s meant to designate very high quality reproduction that’s as close as possible to the original, live performance. In its ideal state, a hi-fi recording isn’t encumbered by noise, and it is notably characterized by an accurate frequency response, i.e. the measure of a systems output spectrum, in response to an input signal. In other words, hi-fi is the ideal when it comes to listening. It’s as if you were there, listening live, except, in you’re in your living room—you’re transported to another place and time.
Today, when you’re talking about hi-fi, you’re talking about higher end electronic equipment; it’s better than average. There’s actually a whole entire subculture dedicated to the endeavor of getting the best listening experience; these hi-fi-philes, or sound junkies are into the top of the line hi-fi stereo equipment. They collect and assemble their own systems, customizing them and picking and choosing separate components that are especially attuned, in some way or other to the ideal sound one is trying to achieve. Some manufacturers excel in areas where others don’t, so audiophiles generally are very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of sound equipment; they also quite selective when it comes to what they choose to buy or not. Getting just the right sonic impressions can be a very intensive and also very immersive. Selecting the perfect combination of equipment isn’t a matter to be taken lightly.
Of course, there are millions of people who don’t know the difference between hi-fi audio quality and regular audio. But that ignorance simply translates into missing out. Once you hear hi-fi, you can’t go back. When you listen to a hi-fi recording, it’s as if you’re listening to the live performance as it happened, in real time-- it’s like the performers or musicians were in the room right in front of you performing their act for your own special listening pleasure.
Thus, we come to the question of equipment. Hi-fi equipment demands a certain level of quality. Although you can get very decent systems at reasonable prices, most audiophiles will tell you that for the best sound, you have to pick and choose components rather than buy a package deal from one company. Speakers, for instance are probably the main piece of the whole pie that really makes a difference. Some people prefer one brand for the sonic depths or the quality of resonance or timbre or what have while others will prefer another brand for different aural qualities. It is, in the end a matter of opinion. However, most of these hi-fi speakers do cost more than your average discount store brand; and that’s simply because they sound a whole lot better.
But it’s not just speakers that count—it’s also speaker stands. You have to match the equipment with the furniture in order to get the best result. If you spend so much money on high quality hi-fi speakers, you don’t want to diminish the sound with ordinary speaker stands, or with no stands at all. That simply doesn’t cut it when you’re looking for the best sound. Sound, of course, has to do with vibrations and frequencies; if you get ordinary speaker stands, that can actually end up making the sound quality worse—you won’t get your money’s worth in other words.
So, buying hi-fi speaker stands is the only way to go when you’re into getting the best sound out of your speakers. You won’t regret it. Many hi-fi speaker stands come equipped with accoutrements that are designed to enhance sound quality. For instance, some stands come with gel pads which isolate and improve sound deadening.
The design of hi-fi speaker stands takes into account how best to convey sound and also how to combine form and functionality. These types of stands are much more ergonomic and sleeker than your average speaker stand. Again, they’ve been specially designed by sound and furniture engineers who know what they’re doing. It takes skill to know how to best carry sound and to complement hi-fi speakers. It also takes a fair amount of skill to design a stand that not only adds to the sound quality, but also adds interest to a space, without taking away from it. Thus any audio enthusiast can appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into crafting and creating hi-fi speaker stands.
There are a wide variety of different hi-fi stands out there. These range from the ultra-chic to the more down to earth type. But the real rub is that hi-fi speaker stands are necessary, if you want the best effect. Hi-fi speaker designers really delve into the problems of sound and sound carriage. They take into account, for example, how glass can create a ringing sound, and they solve the problem by looking to the racing industry. As you can see, a lot of time and care goes into the design process. If you are looking for the best possible sound, you have to complement your hi-fi speakers with hi-fi speaker stands. It’s the only way to go.
