What is a "hidden Mickey"?

A hidden Mickey is a small mark left by artists, animators, Imagineers of the Walt Disney Company. They signify that a specifc artist worked on a piece, whether in: movies, theme parks, resorts, hotels, etc...

Why?

A Disney artist or "Imagineer" can not sign his or her name to an actual piece without destroying the magic behind it. If it were to say "John Doe" scribbled into a corner would it be as magical or as memorable as ""Walt Disney"?

Where?

Hidden Mickeys can be found in many places; they are most prominent in the Walt Disney theme parks. In fact, many visitors to the parks spend a significant portion of their trips tracking down the little icons. It becomes not only a learning experience but also a game. When new hidden mickey's are dicovered, there are even books that have been published and websites where they can be listed.

What else?

Some hidden Mickey's have been officially created by Walt Disney Imagineering, like the ones on this page while others have been created by Cast Members. The next time you are at the Walt Disney World Resort, take time to look around. You might be surprised as to what you find! :o)

There is a great hidden mickey in front of the bathrooms not too far from the Pirates of the Caribean ride. It looks like a puddle on the floor, but when you look closely the water forms a mickey head.

It amazed both my brother and I.
