It really doesn't matter if your wedding dress is "high fashion" or not when selecting the right dress. What is most important to consider is your body type. Way to often brides are entranced by wedding dresses that sparkle, or are considered high fashion instead of fit. If your wedding dress is not right for your body type, it is definitely not the dress for you high fashion or not!

Hourglass or the G-shape body type : Over 75% of women are this body shape. Picture Marilyn Monroe when thinking of this body type. Nice broad shoulders, smaller waistline, fuller hips and legs. When selecting a dress for this body type choose something that will enhance your figure. Like a two-piece, corset dress. Thin women with this body shape look great in the mermaid style of dress. Dresses with bisque waistlines is another style well suited for this body type. Anything that accentuates your waistline works best.

Characterizations of this shape are:

1. Big busted: Bridal bustier or corsets tend to make a women look top heavy if your bra cup is a D or larger. Wedding dresses that have a V-neckline, scoop or square necklines will enhance your figure.
2. Broader shoulders: Avoid dresses with a crew or Queen Ann neckline. Spaghetti strap dresses are also a no-no. Make sure to try strapless, scoop and V-necklines.
3. Petite: If you are short or petite, make sure to wear taffeta or silk instead of satin if you're this shape. Too much fabric weight will bear down your look. Also, choose a scoop neckline and straight waist. These will best enhance your waistline and make you look taller in your wedding dress.
   

Pear shape or A-shape: This body type usually has narrow shoulders or a rolled shoulder-line. Why it is called the A-shape is because the body figure is the exact shape of an A. Whether you consider your narrow shoulders and fuller hips a blessing or not, it is best to fit your body in an A-line style of dress. Often known as the princess cut. Princess cut dresses disguise fuller hips and enhances the pear shaped body type best. This also balances out the torso to bust ratio. Stay away from strapless dresses. A dress with off the shoulder capped sleeves would look great.

D-shape body: D-shape body lines are known for their fuller waists and flat buttocks. The most flattering dresses for this shape are the empire and princess waist line dresses. Stay away from drop waist lines. They will only make you look thicker from the side view. Straight dresses work well for this body type. The best type of neckline for the body type is the Queen Ann neckline.
