President Barack Obama Historic Speech 10 min.

President Obama's First Speech to Congress

President Barack Obama delivered a Joint Session of Congress speech on February 24, 2009 televised on national television.  The purpose of President Barack Obama speech one of many he has made in the few weeks prior is to explain his economic policy to congress and the country.  In a speech delivered eloquently as ever the President announced to Congress that the $787 Economic Stimulus Package formerly known as the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act was officially a law.  President Barack Obama received standing ovations throughout the speech and this announcement was no exception.

President Barack Obama sought to ensure the American people that his economic plans were in fact working and working for the benefit of the country. President Barack Obama announced also that Vice-President Biden will over see that the Economic Stimulus Package was adhered to by the states.  President Barack Obama on this 10 minute snippet of the entire speech to Congress state quite jovially that "Nobody messes with Joe."  The Congress agreed with a standing ovation for Vice President Joe Biden of who the speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi joined in agreement by standing and applauding also.  The film that is included in this article shows Senatory John McCain, President Barack Obama's former opponent for the Presidency when he mentions that all do not agree with his recovery package.
