High School and College Graduation

I graduated from high school in 1978 in Oshawa, Ontario. I did not make a big deal of it. I didn't go to my high school graduation and did not have a high school graduation party and I didn't even get a high school graduation gift either. I remember getting my high school diploma in the mail. So why didn't I go to my high school graduation? Why didn't I go to a high school graduation party? Why didn't I get a high school graduation gift?

The reason why is, sure I graduated from high school, but big deal. It really wasn't that big of an accomplishment to me. Also, I wanted nothing more to do with high school once my last day came around.

I was one of those real shy kids in school and I mean real shy. The reason I was so shy is because I was teased at school, several times. I have congenital chorea, which means I walk different than others so, because of this, I was teased in school. Kids in school can be so viscious and being teased in school is not fun. It really does something to you. It takes all the fun out of being who I really was and it made me very sad and angry at other people.

In 1999, I graduated from college in Kingston, Ontario. I didn't go to my college graduation and I didn't get a college graduation gift either. Again, graduating was not a big deal to me. I graduated, who cares. In college, I had a few friends. People didn't tease me in college. Most people in college just had nothing to do with me. I learned a long time ago that it is best not to get too involved with people. I learned the hard way to keep to myself.

Do I miss not going to my graduations? Nope, not at all. If I had to graduate all over again, I know without a doubt I wouldn't go to my graduation.

No responsibility sounds lovely to me too. But school days can be hard for most kids. Kids are so cruel at times
