Gadgets for Dogs

The following electronics are unique and different gadgets. Some of which you may have heard about and thought of, others maybe not.

I mean, personally, I've never thought about a PDA for my dog, but then again maybe you have. Who knows?

Check out the following four gadgets for your high- tech pooch. Maybe you'll get inspired, or maybe you already have. Let me know in the comments box at the bottom of the page.

PetCell

With this PetCell cell phone for your dog, you don't have to worry about you pet pup going over his minutes. No texting or pictures. This is a rather simple pet cell phone that allows you to contact your dog when you're away, which is great for when you go to work, leaving your dog home alone.

The pet cell phone fits on the dog's collar and is water- proof and has a built in GPS.

In order to contact your dog, you just dial his number and after just one ring, his cell phone automatically picks up, so you don't have to worry about your pooch fumbling his du- claws around the 'talk' button.

Your dog can hear your talking to him, and you can even hear your dog if he barks back. It's just a pretty neat gadget that you may want to consider.

3 other features that the PetCell includes:

  • A 'Call Owner' feature in case your dog gets lost.
  • Built in GPS so you can locate your dog.
  • GeoFence that tells you when your dog goes over his parameters.

Global Pet Finder

The Global Pet Finder is a GPS that you can attach to your dog's collar. You can check on your dog's location at the Global Pet Finder website.

This is definitely a gadget that I want to invest in. Problem is, currently their pretty big, so if your dog runs away, it can get stuck on things, or if you're dog is stolen, its very visible and will be removed by the dog- napper pretty early on.

But, even still, the dog GPS is a great gadget for you to invest in. You can check your dog's whereabouts on your cell phone or any techy gadget that allows you to access the internet.

My other concern about the attachable collar gadget, is that for dogs who like to chew on their tags, while wearing their collar, will chew on this gadget. I don't think that my APBT will let this last long around her neck, as she's a big fan of chewing her dog tags.

PetMaster

The PetMaster PDA for your dog is not a gadget you're really going to let your dog program himself. He just may just accidentally forget that appointment to the vet for his yearly shots.

This electronic gadget is like your own personal PDA, but instead of your own doctor's appointments, business meetings, and play dates for the kids, you'll enter in vet appointments, medicine schedules, and trips to the dog park.

You can program numbers to you regular vet, an emergency vet, a boarding kennel, the groomer, the dog walker, and any other phone number that you may need to call in regards to your dog and his health.

Doggie Doorbell

The Doggie Doorbell is is wireless remote gadget that your dog can press whenever he wants to go outside. The wireless paw pad activates a doorbell- type chime.

Place the remote paw pad at eye level for your dog to press with his nose or on the to press with his actual paw.

You can teach your dog 'touch' and transpose that to touch the remote when he needs, or just wants, to go outside.

This is a great gadget for the dog who just doesn't get he's supposed to bark when he goes to the door.

I think I'm going to invest in this gadget, as my APBT puppy goes to the door, waits a few seconds, walks off, and just goes wherever she decides. Because she hasn't 100% grasped that she needs to alert someone to take her out by either nudges or barking at the door, this is a great gadget that would help make her 100%.

Doggy cell phones? What next? Dial-a-pizza for poochies. Man-Oh-Man technology is sure getting out of hand.

Super hub Whitney regards Zsuzsy

Steph- I'm surprised products like the dog pda is popular, but the other products are beneficial.

Zsuzsy- I think that the cell phones are only good for their GPS and GeoFence features. One could call the answering machine and talk to the dog if they want the dog to hear your voice. My dad's done it, as the APBT's kennel is in the room with the answering machine.

Damn!! these are cool and i would say essential gadgets for a dog especially the global pet finder. This technology will soon become smaller and lighter which would suit small dogs and be hidden easily in the collar..A nice addition would be to implement a small cam so you can literally see where your dog is..

luv da hub!

Wow! I have GOT to have the pet cell! Not too much worried about the phone as the GPS tracker and parameter alert! And the doggie doorbell! I couldn't believe it when I watched the video. That's MY BABY! LOL. My pug gets that same funny look on his face when you talk to him! Thanks for a great hub!

Pet owners can really get zany. Hey, I've been one for over 55 years! Some of the stories my dog behaviorist friend, Rena Murray (a/k/a "DogWhisperWoman") tells me are hilarious... and scary. (Identities always protected.) These people are serious!

I would love a GPS, but cannot risk it's catching on anything. And you are right - what use if a dog napper can see it? Still, that appears better than microchips which can cause tumors, migrate, and be missed so that your dog is put down anyway by a shelter when found. There's no standardization of equipment, and chips are missed all the time. Heartbreaking true stories!

Now the Doggie Doorbell - you could teach your pet. I LOVE that idea! So thanks for a fun and informative hub!
