High Protein Summertime Smoothies
62
When the temperature begins to creep up outside and you find your appetite seems to have disappeared, it might be a good idea to consider replacing your usual meal with a smoothie. You still do need to ensure you are getting enough nutrition for the day and skipping meals is definitely not the way to do that. Since smoothies feel much lighter in your stomach, so long as they are supplying you with some healthy fats, protein and carbohydrates you will definitely be meeting your needs. Add a few stir-fried vegetables since those are nice and light as well (maybe a cold salad if you are really hot) and then you will also be sure to be getting plenty of anti-oxidants too. Those are also really important for maintaining a healthy immune system and fighting off diseases.
Below are a few smoothie recipes you can try. If there is a particular seasonal fruit that you really enjoy, definitely do not be scared to replace this with one that's in there. Having a good variety in your diet will not only prevent dietary boredom from sinking in but will also offer you a wider array of nutrients. Take advantage of frozen fruit also, which are particularly good in smoothies since they help to add a thicker consistency to the drink.
