55Once you have finished playing in the sand and jumping the Atlantic's waves, you will find activities galore on Hilton Head Island.
Golf is probably the most known land activity on this 12 mile island. From the Verizon Heritage PGA Tour played on the island every April to the Celebrity Golf Tournament held every Labor Day weekend, golf fans young and old have surely followed the events in person or by reported results from this beautiful island. When not booked with events, the courses are filled with people from across the island and miles away practicing their skills.
BRAVO-Celebrate the Arts is annually in the month of May. This salute to the arts community and cultural heritage provides performing art events, cultural presentations and related programs for those who enjoy the arts.
A favorite family adventure is found in Sea Pines Plantation. Harbor Town provides summertime family entertainment. Dinning and shopping venues are found next to the Harbor Town Marina. You can climb the Harbor Town Lighthouse, which has become the symbol of Hilton Head, to view the sites of the south end of the island.
Shelter Cove Harbor offers summer time family entertainment with children's shows, shopping, dining, fireworks, excursions and other activities. Close to Shelter Cove is a miniature golf course.
The Coastal Discovery Museum offers exhibits to learn about the sea islands. Open both summer and winter, the museum offers a look at the history and ecology of the island.
Nature trails and bike paths of the island make exploration of nature easy and enjoyable. Wildlife is found throughout the island. Walking and biking are common ways of discovering the island and for those who study ecology.
