Hilton Head Island has something for everyone! Located 40 miles from Savannah, Georgia and approximately 95 miles from Charleston, South Carolina, the island is the destination of choice for over 2 million visitors a year.




It began its development as a destination resort area in the 1950's. Connected to the mainland by the J. Wilton Graves Bridge that crosses the Intracoastal in Beaufort County, South Carolina, the island was developed in an eco-friendly manner. Before the age of "green" building and development Hilton Head Island has been developed into seven primarily gated communities known as "plantations". While numerous developments exist off the island itself as the growth has exploded - on the island are the following plantations:

Rental housing rates begin to climb in April and peak during the summer months. However, there are housing options for a variety of budgets as well as needs. Don't forget to check out the numerous boating and fishing options. There are a number of tour options as well as group kayak and zodiac trips that are available. Fishing charters can take you from Hilton Head without having to go to the Outer Banks for offshore adventure. Both inshore and offshore fishing is available from the island.

Hilton Head Island may be best known for its golf. Home to some of the greatest golfing on the East Coast, over one million rounds a year are played on these courses! With more than 20 courses located on the island and over 50 courses within easy reach, Hilton Head Island is a golfer's nirvana. Look for packages and coupons books that give discounts and reduced rates at a variety of these courses during the off season.
