The search for the best available manpower today to fill key positions in a company is a dilemma to which organizations would be found scratching their heads. Matching key positions with the necessary requirements, skills and degrees is the nightmare of most personnel departments since the issues of desired compensation and finding the proper fit in the organizational opening would not always be smooth sailing as most people would expect them to be.

There are ideal individuals, who could fit the key positions, but the matter of compensation based on the requirements and the work to be performed would usually be the stumbling block in proper placement proceedings. Further, it is no secret that most organizations would want to make sure of the proper fit of the candidates for the positions since work performance evaluation is not entirely based on the diploma and grades that graduates readily boast of today.

There is a way where organizations would offer apprenticeship programs where such students can start out trying their hand on actual business proceedings and measure their competency on actual work instructions as provided by companies. Such is a good program and working experience for people. Some would identify such programs as On the Job Training to allow students a feel of how it is to be like in the working industry today in any field they may be gearing towards to upon graduation.

Of course, compensation at this level is not really a serious matter since undergraduate people who avail of such apprenticeship programs are offered allowance in lieu of the basic salaries and benefits that employees would always use as a basis for their actual job description. The key attribute here is the fact that students are given this opportunity to experience the working environment for a given time frame and make the final decision after securing their diploma if that is actually what they are looking for.

One fallback here is the consistency of work to be performed. While many would consider clerical and filing work as routine, people who get to handle other jobs such as programming and systems analysis and design would most likely have a hard time advancing in the implementation and improvement of such systems.

Programming is something that has to be started and finished to be efficient. Regular changing of scripting and commands of the work process flow will remain in this area if they are not given the proper opportunity to flourish and implement them. Hence not all college interns may benefit and it would all boil down to the scope of work and relevance in their chosen field of concern which they will be finishing in a couple of years.
