His Sacrifice in the Name of Love
50The Ultimate Gift
Easter is upon us and though this holiday was derived from Pagan tradition, the concept applies just the same. Jesus was a just, honest, and true individual who preached to be generous, kind, and loving to your fellow man. He was seen as a rebel by those in power and was therefore perceived as a threat to society. The politicians and spin doctors of his day were also the church leaders and frowned upon his teachings for they gave genuine power of spirit to the masses. Jesus taught love as the essence of human life, that happiness, true happiness in life was something that human beings should all be able to enjoy. This flew in the faces of those in charge who constantly preached suffering as the way to heaven. Jesus paid with his life for spreading honest values to society. He died for teaching equality and happiness. He did not judge, though he possessed more power than all the priests and scribes of his time because his heart was pure, like that of a child. There is so much knowledge to be gained from his teachings. It is unfortunate that early Christians took Jesus' teachings and twisted them to their advantage so as to benefit in the politics of the day and rise to power over the people through greed. It is a dark smudge on the history of Christianity. However, fortunately, we came out of those Dark Ages and reconnected overtime with what Jesus was all about. His ethics and morals were second to none. He was and is the Son of God and that was something that should be remembered. He shed his blood so that others would be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. That is the most awe inspiring act when you think of this kind soul of true strength making the ultimate sacrifice. Easter is the holiday of the Resurrection, no matter how it is applied in various religions, but remember the special meaning it holds for Christians around the world this special day of the year. Remember the love of Jesus for mankind and try to live by his example for there is no other greater expression of love.
