History Of The Titanic Part 1
The history of the titanic began with constrution on March 31, 1909 in Belfast, Ireland by Harland and Wolff.
It took 3 years to build the Titanic to be completed and the cost was $7.5 million dollars for the ship to be finished. More than 3000 men were employed in building the Titanic during that time span.
The White Star Line claimed in many publications that the ship was "designed to be unsinkable" leading up to the maiden voyage of the Titanic.
We now know from the photographs taken of the ship's wreckage that many of the nearly 3 million rivets that were used to hold the ship's hull plates together came loose when the vessel struck a massive iceberg.
Without the rivets to hold the plating together, they quickly buckled, allowing water to seep into the ship. Some theories suggest that the iron used in the Titanic may have been of inferior quality, containing high degrees of sulfur, which made the hull plates particularly susceptible to the icy cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The iron used in the construction of the Titanic was standard for the first part of the 20th century.
While the poor quality of the iron may have surely played a role in the tragic history of the Titanic, it was not the only reason the ship sank.
History Of The Titanic Part 2
Just before noon, on April 10th,1912 the Rss Titanic was set on its voyage across the cold atlantic ocean from Southamton,England to New york.
Carring 2,200 Passengers with it.While the titanic was on its voyage to the new world the 1rst class was siting in the 1rst class dineing room, After the dinner the men would go in to a cigar room and smoke and brag about there huge indistries.
While the 1rst class was enjoying there time the 3rd class was haveing as much fun as they can drinking, smokeing, danceing and alot of other things were some of them.
Four Hours into there journey,at 11:40 p.m on April 10th something tragic happend....they hit a iceberg.
The impact was so great it loosend the rivets on the ships hull thet pressure of the water made the rivets pop off, the ships hull started to fill with water. All the pasengers were called to the deck and were told to but life jackets on..Passengers started to worry. It became obvious that many would not find safety in a lifeboat.
As the bow portion of the ship sank deeper, passengers scrambled to the stern. John Thayer was a passenger that was in a lifeboat watching the chaos. "We could see groups of the almost fifteen hundred people still aboard, clinging in clusters or bunches, like swarming bees; only to fall in masses, pairs or singly, as the great after part of the ship, two hundred and fifty feet of it, rose into the sky, till it reached a sixty-five or seventy degree angle."
The great ship slowly slid beneath the waters two hours and forty minutes after the collision.
2 hours, 40 minutes later after the ship hit the iceberg, at 2.20 a.m. the next day the ship sank.2200 passengers boarded the ship to start there lifes over in the new world but only 705 survived.1523 lives were lost that day.
Even though its kinda of a tragic story i hope it helped you in anyway
