History in the Making: Election '08

I am proud to be a witness to the history that is being made today. This is proving to be the most interesting, exciting, memorable and historical elections in my entire lifetime, and I am sure there are many people out there who would agree with me.

Never have we had an African-American or a female in the office of President or Vice-President. No matter which way the election goes, history will be made. It is a remarkable thing to witness. The future will forever be changed by this election, and we truly are writing a major new chapter in the history books.

Barack Obama is the first African-American to be the nominee for President by a major political party. With his unconventional venue on the last night of the Democratic Convention, and the spectacle it turned out to be, he has already shown that this election will be like no other.

And now, with McCain's choice of Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate, we look forward to what promises to be an interesting election season. Finally, we have an election that will actually mean something! Whether or not much is changed in terms of policies, remains to be seen.

It has already been an interesting campaign by both major parties. The use of the Internet has exploded in this election. Each candidate is taking advantage of all the Internet has to offer, with websites, online games, myspace and facebook pages and interesting, and sometimes amusing viral campaign ads. This has truly been an election like no other.

I certainly hope that something like this puts an end to the apathy and disinterest in politics and the election process that has plagued this country for years. Everyone needs to get out there, and vote. I don't care who you vote for, as long as you take the time to inform yourself on the issues and on the candidates and what they stand for.

We have two historic campaigns that are working to break down barriers, and I am glad. When this is all over, we can finally say, we did it! Either we will have Barack Obama, a black man, as President of the United States or we will have Sarah Palin, a woman, as Vice-President. This is something that will be talked about for generations to come. It is a historic day for this country and I am truly proud to say that I was here to see it.

Even though I am not American and therefore unfortunately I cannot vote in this election, it is great to see that the old barriers of gender and race are coming down. It will truly be historic. I hope you get a higher voter turn out than in the past. If this election doesn't motivate people to come out and vote in hordes I am afraid that nothing will.

As a Canadian I am proud to say that we have already had a woman Prime Minister.

If only we were more like Canada and Nebraska, which have monocameral legislative bodies.

Too bad about the British connection, up in Canada. That and the Vatican make two linear management scams, to which Canada might be less susceptible, but rather the Canadian syndrome blocks, for illegal interests, to invade us, in nasty symbiosis, with the British Imperialist-flavors, for international organized crime.

Elections are to be played with, if you are corporate or misrepresentative royalty.

Don't translate that, without having your Japanese friends take a look at it.

quotations- I agree that it is a good thing to have those old barriers torn down! It's about time, in my opinion. So many other countries have had female leaders. We have fallen behind, in that respect.

bobgnote- once again, you make little sense.
