Hitting the Right Target: Upper Back Pain Treatment
62Upper back pain, though occurring less frequently than low back pain, can also put our activities and our lives on hold. The pain that it brings can be very intense that it could confine the patient on the bed for a couple of days, weeks, or even months. Hence, correct diagnosis and proper upper back pain treatment deserve the same attention as that of low back pain.
Upper back pain is often referred to as middle back pain because it affects the area just below the neck and just above the lumbar spine. Muscle strain, injury, and poor posture are among the most common causes of upper back pain. These are obviously preventable and can benefit from early diagnosis and prompt upper back pain treatment that targets the source of the pain. But, of course, some upper back complaints may be caused by more serious conditions such as degeneration and herniation (bulging out) of your intervertebral discs, which requires immediate attention because it could lead to impingement of the spinal nerves that could eventually lead to serious trouble.
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression
Simple upper back pain treatment include massage therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture, application of topical creams and ointments, exercise, or just by improvement of one's posture. In the past, upper back pain that arise from pathological conditions are managed by invasive surgical procedures. However, science has come up with an innovative technology that treats upper back pain non-surgically.
Non-surgical spinal decompression is one of the upper back treatment options that is gaining popularity because it is safe, non-invasive, and convenient. The technique involves a gradual therapeutic elongation of the spine to release pressure on the compressed vertebral bones and discs. The procedure is very simple. The patient lies on the spinal decompression table and allows the machine to apply decompression forces. When patient feels uncomfortable, he or she may opt to stop the process through a safety switch attached to the table.
Because the causes of upper back pain are varied, it is essential to see a specialist that could point out which spot to target for the most effective upper back pain treatment. Proper and accurate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatments by the most qualified professionals are the key to living your life back pain free!

Chiropractic adjustments to realign the mid-back segments often eliminates mid-back pain.
This was a definite medicinal approach to upper/middle back pain. I would like if people could consider another approach. Think of your shoulders.... look at a mirror or if you see others that suffer as you do look at them. Are the shoulders hunched over or rounded? Do the type a lot or work with there arms over their shoulders?
I would like to take a moment and mention that most of what is said in this hub is signifigant but the 2 comments above had different ways of treating back pain....
Therefore, the problem with MOST not all, hunched folks and typists is a muscle imbalance. And treating that before surgery or severe pain is experienced. I would recommend checking out my site and learning more about muscle imbalances.
