Vietnam is in shock over popular children's entertainer and general TV personality Hoang Thuy Linh who is 19. The Internet is in a buzz over the recent coming about of grainy video tape showing Hoang Thuy Linh and her boyfriend performing sexual acts. The star plays a school girl on the Vietnamese show Vang Anh's Diaries but in reality is a college graduate. in what has been named the Vang Anh scandal the programme has been pulled and the 19 year old girl publicly shamed. Blogs, chat rooms and news articles are spreading the word about Hoang Thuy Linh. The first video was a mobile phone 3 minute copy put on youtube which has been removed but other copies have been made including 20 minute copies.
The scandal, involving a video that appears to show the star of popular TV series Vang Anh's Diaries having sex, has sparked intense debate. Two men and two women, all in their twenties, will be prosecuted for "dispersing illicit material of sexual content" on the internet. If found guilty, they could face up to three years in jail. Nguyen Huu Tai, Vo Thanh Hiep, Nguyen Thu Linh and Vu Thi Thuy Linh are accused of making and posting the 16-minute video clip of 19-year-old TV star Hoang Thuy Linh on the internet. Police are also investigating another 10 people, mostly students and some currently studying overseas, for "storing, transporting and dispersing illicit material". The four people arrested are accused of copying the video clip, filmed by mobile phone, from a computer belonging to Thuy Linh's boyfriend.
The Vanh Anh's Diaries series, which focused on the daily lives of Vietnamese school students, was popular with both young people and the older generation. Unprecedented attention from the public, especially among internet users, prompted Vietnam Television to drop the series which was in its second season. It is interesting to note that in the usa or anywhere in the west this would not be taken as much of shock for some celebrities.

I think it is great that she suffered these consequences. IF she decides to be an actress to appear to the younger audiences then she has to understand how much they will look up to her. Yes, we are humans and humans have sex, but for her to be 19 and THAT sexually active I think she deserved it.
I saw the video and was pitied of what had happened. She's pretty and famous but now had lost that name. But she will still be a role model for children and young especially to young ladies because this scandal will serve as a lesson that before doing anything, one must think a thousand times.
If this occur in Europe or N. America, then she did nothing wrong. however to say that Vietnamese people is wrong is not right. I personally don't think she was wrong for have sex with her BF but I do believe that the Vietnamese people is not wrong in anyway for blaming her either. Their culture is a more conservative and she should know her cultures norm. They have their ways of doing things. She made a mistake and must pay the price since her culture have different norm than ours. My prayers still goes out to her and her family.
