Many of us decorate our homes for the Christmas holidays. We put a Christmas tree in the living room, pretty holiday canisters and dish towels in the kitchen, and a wreath on the front door. However, when we plan to entertain guests, wouldn't it be nice to have the guest bathroom decorated also?

Here are some ideas for decorating with holiday angels in the bathroom:

Supplies That Will Be Needed

  • For the bath tub: angel shower curtain, angel curtain rings
  • For the sink: sink skirt with appliqued angels; ceramic angel soap dish, toothbrush holder and lotion dispenser; small holiday bowl filled with pine scented potpourri
  • For the toilet: holiday angel rug set that includes tank and lid
  • For the wall: display shelf with a variety of angel ceramics or small dolls, angel wallpaper border, angel print or plaque hanging on wall, holiday switch plate
  • Angel hand towels and/or fingertip towels
  • Holiday rug set in a color that will pull all of the angels together as a grouping

Hints

  • Before purchasing the switch plate check to see if you have a single or double switch plate.
  • If you have a cat that will play with the bowl of potpourri and spill it down the sink or on the floor, then you can achieve the same aromatic effect with pillar candles. Cats must be pretty intelligent as I have not seen any cats that I ever had go anywhere near a flame. But make that judgment call for yourself.
  • If you decide to buy a ceramic plaque to hang on the wall, first examine it to make sure that the hook for hanging was inserted into the ceramic before it was fired. A hook that has been inserted after the piece has been fired will be weaker and may not hold the weight.
  • If you do not want to keep the angel theme year round, then buy a wallpaper border that can be peeled easily. Or do like my husband did and simply use a staple gun along the edges.
  • In a larger bathroom you may want to have two display racks: one over the towel rack and one over the toilet. In a small bathroom it might be better to put a print over the towel rack so it will be flush against the wall instead of having people bump into it.
  • When selecting the bathroom rug set, first look at the variety of angels to see which color repeats itself through most or all of them. Try to match that holiday color to pull the grouping together.

There are many places to buy these items. However, I have found that it is easier to find complete matching or coordinating items with the angels theme online. I guess this is because each store manager will only order items that he believes will sell in his neighborhood but an online store does not have that limitation.  So if you really enjoy decorating then consider holiday angels in the bathroom.
