Watch the Commercial!

A lot of us like to rant about the quality of TV and the time wasted watching but I happened to catch a commercial that Wal-Mart has a couple of days ago. I was moved by the darn thing and thought "I ought to do something." Then I went on about my business and forgot all about it.

Watch the video now from Youtube. It's only about 30 seconds!

Great Commercial!

Amy Grant

Amy Grant and the American Red Cross

OK, you watched it, right. Now wipe your eyes, blow your nose and read on.

Yesterday I happened to see a spot on Fox News about Amy Grant and the American Red Cross. The "Holiday Mail for Heroes" program is a program that allows us to send Christmas cards to service men and women, veterans, and their families. Those two spots on TV inspired me to create this hub. See TV is not a total waste of time.

(Let me get off on a little rant here. "Holiday for Heroes" is the perfect name for this project except .... you knew there had to be an except, didn't you. It is just too darn politically correct. I like "Christmas for the Courageous" myself! If that offends any of my atheist buddies out there well that is just too bad and you can got to ..........     no wait you don't believe in that either!)

Sending a card is not much but is the least we can do to show our appreciation for the things they do and have done on a daily basis! And frankly I don't know why a person couldn't send several individual cards at the same time. Hey, they got them buy one/get one free at Walgreen's.

It is also allowed and possibly better to make one. Have your kid or grandkid make one. Make it personal, tell them how much you appreciate them. Don't put your own personal info in it. The American Red Cross is checking each card to make sure it is safe and done in the right spirit. There are the nut cases and Scrooges out there, after all.

The address is:

Holiday Mail for Heroes

PO Box 5456 Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456

There is a list of guidelines on the American Red Cross web site that is linked below.

You know, regardless of how you feel about the wars we are currently involved in you have to respect an individual who volunteers to put themselves in harms way to protect us. I think we should take a few minutes to put our service people first especially at this time of year. The deadline is December 7th.

As they say "Just do it"!

all right, tears are running. Besides the fact Toby Kieth is in my top ten favorite singers, he hits it on the nose with these videos.

Army Infantry Mom,

Thank you so much for the kind comments. Political correctness has it's place, but doesn't seem to know it's place!
