Familys Pets in Costume

After almost 18 years with Miss Pooh, I decided that it was time for her to get into the holiday spirit and dress up in a silly costume. In the past, there was not desire to dress her up. In fact, she was a bit too spunky to try getting her into costume. So why this season?

Why not? She is calm these days, so the level of cooperation leans to my favor. Where I have always thought of pet-attire as outdoor protective gear in the colder climates, the inspiration to dress her up just for fun prevailed.

My sister dressed up the niece and nephew (cats) for halloween, and they looked adorable!  Did my Miss Pooh miss out on an opportunity?

Getting your pet into a costume is relatively similar to putting them on a leash for the first time. Shocking, difficult, and possibly borderline torture ... but in the end, it was slightly amusing. The fashion show lasted all of 3 minutes, at best. Apparently being a pet photographer is more challenging than I imagined (and I did not think it would be simple).

Maybe I will make holiday greeting cards with one of her photos. Who knows. It was something I can say we've done, but not really anything we'll try again on the cat. After all, she is almost 18 years old... she deserves to be costume-free.

The costume does not always fit well, or perhaps any costume is never a good fit for her.

It took awhile to get her front paws through, but Zoey sure is an adorable ladybug!
