Holiday parties: Music Selections 101
73About this time of year, I start rifling through my music library of assorted CDs and take inventory, especially if I am hosting a party or other holiday celebration. While it's always good, in fact, essential to have a good selection of holiday favorites, it's also good to have good non-holiday music. Depending on the type of party you are going to throw, you should always have at least one or two good CDs with music people can dance to. This hub has some of my favorites.

Warren Zevon- Werewolves of London
A song about werewolves isn't just for Halloween. This song just makes you smile and want to get up and dance around the room. Mom, dad, the kids, and even grandma and grandpa can all get into the tempo and melody of this song. It's cute to see little kids going "AhOOOH" and then hear everyone chiming in with "werewolves of London".
This song is sure to lighten the mood of your party and get everyone relaxed and having a great time!
Smooth baby — That's how we roll.
Smooth - Santana (Featuring Rob Thomas)
I went to a New Year's party at a friend's house one time, and just as his wife brought out sparklers all lit up and throwing glimmers everywhere, this song started playing, which brought everyone to their feet and onto the living room floor. Your guests will have so much fun dancing, even if they don't know how. The beat just makes you want to move your feet and shake your little booty. Then your holiday guests will go home and say "wow, they had good music, didn't they?"
Karaoke, anyone?
One More Time - Britney Spears
If you don't have a karaoke machine, borrow one from a friend or family member or rent one, then set it up in the main room, off to the side. Make sure you have a lot of popular songs for people to sing along to.
Your younger guests will appreciate it and have a lot of fun singing along to their favorites. Everyone knows the lyrics to this song, and it's actually not too bad on the ears either.
Rock around the Christmas tree.
Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee
This song playing in the background makes you feel like you're at a party and really gets you in the holiday mood. Add to that the buzz of light conversation, laughter and tinkle of party glasses mixed with Christmas cookies and shrimp cocktail and you couldn't ask for a better time!
These are just a few fun song suggestions - Add your own and tailor your own fun holiday party. Anticipate who will be attending, what kind of music they like, that sort of thing. A good music selection goes a long way to ensuring that everyone has a great time. Happy holidays!

Good selections, cosette. In my household, the song that really get people going is "Spring Love" by Stevie B, "Sweet Chlld O' Mine" for Karaoke, and Electric Slide for those who think they can boogey. Thanks, cosette.

Thanks for the music! I needed that (and now I want to PARTY!)
haha...music has a way of doing that doesn't it :)
I loved your music choices. Though I always have It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year in my head during the holiday season and I can't help dancing and singing along to Nine in the Afternoon by Panic! At the Disco. Great Hub!
