Albufeira accomodation

Whatever your expectations are, in Albufeira the options of accommodation will probably fit your needs. It has a variety of attractive hotels, apartments and villas which, in many cases, include a swimming pool, health club, gym, and tennis court. If you thinking about spending your holidays in Albufeira, read on, maybe i'll help you make up your mind.

Beaches

Chances are you’ve heard about Albufeira because it is a region well known by it’s enchanting beaches, and I’ll try to write a brief description of each one:

  • Falesia – With tourist and sports facilities available and endless miles of beaches fringed by the green pines and the many reddish colours of the surrounding cliffs, Falesia is probably one of the most popular destinations in Albufeira.
  • Gale - An expanse of sand between cliffs, with an astounding natural beauty.
  • Baleeira - A broad crescent of sand opposite Albufeira.
  • Oura, Balaia, Olhos de Agua, Coelha and Maria Luísa - A series of beaches each sheltered by colourful cliffs.
  • São Rafael and Vigia - Beaches of great beauty near the fascinating Ponte Pequena and Ninho das Andorinhas rock formations.
  • Albufeira- A long strip of sand with the city surrounding it like an amphitheatre, made up of three beaches: Pescadores, Peneco, and Inatel.

And after a day spent at the beach or after a stroll in the region, there’s nothing more enjoyable than taking your favorite drink in one of the many bars, clubs and discos, that will certainly give you memorable moments.

Food & Entertainment

Being so close to the sea, it's no surprise that the strong point of Albufeira's gastronomy is seafood dishes, appreciated among locals and tourists alike. The sardines, sole, and bass, are always fresh and delicious. The lobster and prawns a true specialty. The fish stew (mixture of several fish with potatoes, peppers and parsley) is one of the most sought-after and exquisite dishes you’ll find in Albufeira.
And at the end of the meal, make sure you try some (or maybe all!) of the desserts, you wont be disappointed by the available selection.

Concerning entertainment, if you are fan of moments of leisure, I should tell you that visitors will have a their disposal, a wide range of activities:

  • Zoomarine, a park dedicated to marine life, will surely provide a day full of surprise and unique sensations.
  • Cruise,
  • Underwater diving, another activity that you can try if you’re interested in moments of adventure and discovery.
  • Jeeps trips, because the Algarve is not all about the sea and beaches, and this trips allows tourists to see Algarve’s beautiful interior.
  • Bullfights, even though i’m against this tradition, i have to mention the bullring in Albufeira, where you can watch Portuguese-style bullfighting.
  • And an endless list of events, from art exhibitions, to music concerts.

Last, but not least, if you enjoy playing golf, you should know that there are three different golf resorts in Albufeira:

  • Pine Cliffs
  • Salgados
  • Balaia Golf Village

Algarve in the News

  • A month in the AlgarveToronto Sun3 hours ago

For roughly a half century, Portugal's warm south -- the Algarve -- has been Europe's most popular winter destination. Roses bloom in December. Almond blossoms line roads in January. By February fragrant gardens bloom on farms whose fields run to the cold sea. Winter temperatures average about 16 C.
