There are many advantages to owning a home based business that are worth investigating. Here are just four of them:

1. More time with family. Many times in our modern-day family situation, there's not a lot of time to spend together as a family. One or both of the parents work outside the home and frequently see very little of their children in any given day or even each other, for that matter. And nurturing our families today is so important as we're grooming our children for the future. They're the next generation.

Working from home could be ideal for those who want something better for their family or at least would like to have more contact with one another and actually get to know each other better.

2. Residual income would be another perk. As you know, if you work for a boss, you are indeed very limited in how much you can excell or get paid. On top of that when your job runs out or you retire, the income stops.

With a home based business, having carefully chosen the best one to fit your needs and personality and having reached a certain income level in that business, when you want to slow down, you can and continue to receive an income for as long as you live. Residual income is really a beautiful thing, and with many MLM companies, you can even will that business to your children.

3. No commuting to a job! Wow, with gas prices on the continual upswing, a one or two hour commute daily is highway robbery. Keep your SUV--just change jobs and work from home. Then when you need to run errands for your business, the mileage is tax deductible since you're initiating your errand from your place of business--at home. It makes a lot of sense and a lot more money in your pocket.

4. Personal freedom. Maybe I should have put this first as it's so important. Of course, you must be disciplined to schedule work hours for yourself or you won't get anywhere, but how wonderful to be able to fit fun and family time into your schedule without putting in for a personal day or sick day.

As your business is doing well, you can take time off knowing that no one is looking over your shoulder to make sure you meet your deadlines. You set the schedule, and you fulfill the committment with integrity. But you also fit in plenty of relaxation so you're at the top of your game when you are working.
