Homeowner an Endangered Species

How do you know when it's time to buy your own home? Are you better off in a rental?  Can we trust the banks and mortgage companies to have our best interest in mind?

These days it's just to hard to tell.  It's always been better to own and pay for your mortgage rather than pay someone elses, but it can be very scary for the average person about to embark on such a big investment.  While the alternative is to rent from property owners still trying to recover from the economic setbacks that have forced them to leave properties unmaintained and vacant, still I wonder which is the wiser choice.

It seems like every time a bank gets bailed out they continue to try and manipulate the consumer to their benefit.  So my question is why are they allowed to?  If anyone knows of a bank that doesn't please come forward with the info!  I've gotten to the point where I don't want to do business with them anymore.  Didn't they learn from their mistakes?  I guess greed doesn't go away, only the customers do.  It's really a shame.   Fortunately I wasn't one of the people who lost their home, but I came very close.  The amount of foreclosure signs in what's left of our neighborhoods is just sad and frightening to say the least.

You're supposed to be able to put your trust in a person and the company they represent to be a Professional working on your behalf.

Maybe it's unfair and deceptive trade practices that will eventually catch up with them,  but how long will that take?  Will it ever be safe to buy a home again?

Will the Homeowner become extinct? They say the market turns every five years, I wonder where these banks will be then.
