Beauty on a Budget

There are eye creams, wrinkle creams, cleansing creams, anti bacteria creams skin tightening creams and toning creams and many more products lotions and potions that sell the promise of eternal youthful looking skin.

Skin care and anti aging products can be very good for your complexion and although some can be quite effective at reducing wrinkles and lines and can even help you to look a few years younger, they can leave a large dent in your wallet each of these creams may sound inexpensive but when you start to tally up the cost of all of the different products it could be costing you hundreds of dollars every month.

Skin care and anti aging treatments are a multi billion dollar industry, everyone wants to look younger than their years and millions of products are sold every day ranging from a couple of dollars right up to a couple of thousand dollars.

Spending a lot of money on these products is fine if you have that kind of money to spare, but failing that there are a few items that can be found in most households that can be just as effective as some of the top branded products but only cost a fraction of the price.

Below you will find a list of items that you will find in most households that can revitalise, lift, rejuvenate, whiten your teeth and even work wonders with your hair for that all over glow, and your wallet will be a lot heavier at the end of every month with all of the money that you have saved.

Toothpaste for Spots

Mayonnaise for cleansing

Beer For Great Hair

Baking Soda for Whiter Teeth

Skin Care

Toothpaste (Dries out Spots)

Toothpaste contains an anti-bacterial agent to kill plaque, in theory this helps to kill the spots.

For many years Supermodels have been using toothpaste to remove spots, the moment a spot appears dab a little toothpaste onto it and it will soon be gone.

Take care though if you have dry or sensitive skin as toothpaste can cause irritation.

Mayonnaise (Skin Cleanser)

Mayo contains egg yolk, vegetable oils and lemon juice, the vegetable oils and egg yolk help to soften the skin and the lemon juice has natural cleansing properties that help to clean and tighten pores.

Apply the mayonnaise, as you would a normal cleanser, massage it into the skin and rinse thoroughly.

Preparation H Haemorrhoid cream (Reduces Bags Under the Eyes)

Haemorrhoid cream contains an anti-inflammatory called phenylephrine which constricts blood vessels and shrinks them, Although manufacturers don't recommend their product for this use, many leading makeup artists swear that a tiny spot of the ointment under each eye temporary reduces eye bags.

Take care not to get any of the ointment in you eyes.

Egg Whites (Tighten and uplift skin)

Egg whites applied to the right areas can give you a temporary face lift, as the egg whites dry out they pull your skin tight, this effect only lasts for a few hours though.

Urine (Moisturiser)

Urine or Urea has been proven to be an extraordinarily effective antibacterial and antiviral agent, one of the best natural diuretics and one of the most effective skin moisturisers ever discovered. Urea actually increases the water-binding capacity of the skin by opening skin layers for hydrogen bonding and thus attracting moisture to dry skin cells.

Apply as you would a normal moisturiser, leave on for at least 3 minutes and wash off thoroughly.

Hair Care

A Bottle of Beer (Shines and De-Frizzes)

The Malt and Hops used to make beer are full of proteins that coat the hair, add volume and smooth damaged hair, beer also contains Vitamin B, which helps condition the hair the natural sugars in the beer create shine.

Shampoo and rinse hair as normal, then pour a bottle of beer over your hair, work it through to the roots and rinse with warm water.

Tomato Ketchup (Removes Green from Dyed Blonde Hair)

Tomato Ketchup corrects highlights that have turned green after swimming.

The hair turns green due to oxidising chemicals in the swimming pool.

Tomato ketchup acts as an antioxidant restoring the normal hair colour.

Apply the ketchup all over the hair massage it in and leave it on for around 20 minutes then wash it out thoroughly.

Teeth

Bicarbonate of soda (Teeth Whitener)

Baking soda or Bicarbonate of soda is a naturally occurring mineral that is widely used in cooking and in a lot of cleaning products.

To use just sprinkle about a teaspoon of baking soda onto your toothbrush and brush your teeth as normal, the gentle abrasive action will polish your teeth, removing dirt and stains, and it will also leave your breath fresh.

If all else fails you could have surgery, no-matter which part of your body that you are unhappy with there is a surgeon out there who will quite happily remove or alter the offending body part to suit your requirements for a large fee of course.

I just don't think I can bring myself to use beer on my hair. I'd rather drink it! Seriously, though, these are interesting tips. Thanks.

So just to summarize Jimmy. (I wouldn't want to get any of this wrong!)

You put toothpaste on your spots, bicarb on your teeth.

Walk around smelling of beer and piss, covered in ketchup, mayo, and eggs, eyes streaming from haemorrhoid cream.

All in the cause of beauty.

Or sounds like a good night out in Glasgow!

Some interesting tips, but a dermatologist friend once told me that putting toothpaste on your face is never recommended.  This one is an urban legend.
