A home office must be fully functional, but it should be as decorative as it is practical, and wall art along with other stylish wall decor can make a tremendous difference in the look and feel of the room. A home office should look every bit as decorative as the rest of the abode. After all, hours are typically spent in the area or room designated as the home office, and it should be comfortable and extraordinarily stylish. Consider the following creative ideas for decorating a home office with wall art, window treatments, and more. Unlike a typical business office it can be a well-decorated place where you might even enjoy spending time.

Wall Colors

The colors chosen for a home office are as important as the hues chosen when decorating other rooms. They should blend in well with the style of adjoining rooms while reflecting personal style. Instead of simply placing a desk in a room and calling it a home office, take the time to decorate the space with wall art, impressive home decor, and plenty of color.

Color has the power to completely change the mood, and it has the power to relax and invigorate the mind. Select warm colors for a home office instead of cool colors or stark white. Warm colors are invigorating and inspiring. Cool colors can be too relaxing, and white is sterile and uninspiring. Select warm apricot or creamy yellow. These colors will energize the mind and encourage productivity. Accent colors are also very important, and when choosing warm apricot or creamy yellow, the accent color options are endless. Select rich neutral accent colors or other warm and invigorating hues for file boxes, desktop decor, wall decor, trim, and window treatments.

Window Treatments

A home office with at least one window can be decorated to let natural light shine in. Natural light is healthy for the mind as well as the body, and it will invigorate and inspire when working from your private abode. Select curtains that are light-filtering with a hint of color, and top the curtains with matching or coordinating valances. Surround both sides of each window or a set of windows with well-chosen wall art metal that will highlight the view and draw attention to the windows. The array of decorating options and possibilities are some of the greatest benefits of having a home office, and a personal office space with natural light and a view is even more desirable.

Lighting

Artificial lighting is imperative in a home office, even if the room offers sunny views to the outside world. Select task lighting that is as decorative as it is practical for dreary days and dark evenings, and make sure it provides enough luminosity to help prevent the eyes from becoming stressed. If desktop space is lacking, consider selecting a wall-mounted fixture that can be easily adjusted. With the right amount of luminosity it will provide the perfect amount of light for completing any task. In addition, wall-mounted task lighting is available in a wide variety of decorating styles and colors to meet every decorating preference and decorating budget, and it is a fantastic alternative to classic tabletop varieties.

Wall Decor

Home office wall decor is just as important as wall decor elsewhere throughout adjoining living quarters. Select wall decor that goes well with adjoining rooms. The home office will blend in seamlessly, and you will be able to leave the door open when guests arrive. Consider choosing canvas wall art, metal wall art, or become inspired by top-of-the-line architectural pieces. Create a focal point on a bare home office wall with one stunning piece, or select a few pieces for an eye-grabbing display that will not only impress but also motivate. Wall decor has the power to make or break the look of a home office or any room in the home, and it provides an endless array of decorating options that are sure to inspire in every way.
