Home Remedies For Acne
76Acne is a problem that troubles everyone at some point throughout their life, but there are many home remedies for acne. Most people get through it after their teenage years, but it can trouble some people throughout their adult life. Painful, embarrassing acne causes people stress and anguish. Millions of dollars every year are spent on the latest skin care treatments: unfortunately none of them treat acne at its source, they only work on pimples and blemishes that you already have. This is what keeps the skin care industry going. If they created an easy way to prevent acne from starting in the first place, there would not be a market for the products that they keep creating.
Home remedies for acne can be as simple as watching what you are eating and putting into your body, or topical treatments with things that you probably already have on hand. There are as many home remedies for acne as there are people with acne. Some work great, others do not. Results can also vary from person to person. What gets rid of my acne overnight might not give you any relief, due to the differences in our skin type. Your best bet is to work towards prevention, then try out different topical treatments.
The number of people that are troubled with acne has increased in recent decades, largely due to the change in diet that our culture has undergone. The invention of microwaves and the drive-thru has changed they way that we eat. Soda is cheaper than water at the convenience store. Ordering a greasy pizza has become as common as a family sitting down to cook a nutrition dinner. There is a cliched phrase in accounting that says, "garbage in - garbage out" referring to accurate counting practices, but this can be applied directly to acne prevention. If you are putting garbage in your body, it will react with things like acne and weight gain.
Working on a prevention plan will certainly not work overnight and is one of the best home remedies for acne. It is a long term commitment to a healthier lifestyle that will improve your skin and your life. That's why we will also look at a few home remedies for the acne that is currently on your face. These home remedies for acne are safer and cheaper than store bought chemicals and treatments. Plus, you probably already have them in your kitchen pantry, if not they are easy to find in your local grocery store.
Home Remedies For Acne Prevention
Acne prevention begins with what you put in to your body. Take a look at what you are currently eating. Is it full of processed food, fast food, and soda? If it is, that is most likely your problem. Think about the idea of garbage in-garbage out. If you are putting healthy food and drink into your body it will treat you nicely, and your skin will start to clear up. If you continue on the fast food diet, the acne will remain.
Alcohol also contributes to acne breakouts. If your skin and body stay well hydrated the pores on your face will have trouble clogging up and creating pimples. Many of the things we drink don't do a good job of keeping us hydrated. Alcohol, coffee, soda, and tea are all diuretics. Diuretics are anything that makes you pee more often, which gets rid of water in your body. All of these things contribute to dehydration and clogged pores. Drink at least a half gallon of water each day to keep well hydrated.
A diet based on fruits and vegetables also contributes to good skin and is one of the best home remedies for acne. I'm not telling you to become vegan, but eating more vegetables than meat and bread will help flush toxins out your body, preventing them from getting stuck in your pores.
How To Open Your Pores
Home Remedies For Acne - Change Your Pillowcase
Every night you sleep, your pillowcase acts like a sponge. It soaks up the oil, dirt, and makeup that is on your face and transfers it back to your clean face the next night. The only way to prevent this buildup is to wash your pillow case every other day. Using a detergent that is not full of perfumes and dyes will also help your skin. The last thing your face needs is a breakout from an allergy to your laundry detergent on top of the acne you already have.
This may seem like a pain, but it works. The results will be worth taking the time to wash it. Better yet, buy extra pillow cases so you don't have to wash the same one repeatedly. The extra pillow cases make this one of the easiest home remedies for acne.
Home Remedies For Acne - Toothpaste
One of my favorite home remedies for acne is putting a dab of toothpaste on a pimple and letting it rest over night. It will help reduce its size without redness. With practices like this it is super important to change your pillow case frequently, as stated above.
Home Remedies For Acne - Horseradish Sauce
One of the non-conventional home remedies for acne is using a cotton ball to dab horseradish sauce on your pimples. Soy is an ingredient in the sauce and works to mellow the pimple, and the spiciness will open the pores up for the soy to work better. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off.
Warning: This hurts! It will burn while it is on your skin. Keep it away from your eyes, it will make your eyes water if you apply it in the area. It leaves the skin red for the next hour or so, but works really well!
