Home Remedies for Acne – Take Your Pick
58Acne has been a problem for as long as we can remember. But in this day and age more and more people are looking for home remedies for acne rather than resorting to pharmaceutical medications. The reason for this is unclear. It may be that insurance and medical expenses have simply force people to look for a natural remedy to the problem, or maybe it's simply hearing all the potential side effect warnings and the television ads that makes people lean towards finding a natural remedy. Whatever the reason, when you're looking for the best acne treatment, it's worth noting that there are many home remedies for acne that many people swear by. Whether they actually will work for you, it's impossible to say. In fact, if anyone was to tell you that they guaranteed one treatment or another would work for you, simply don't believe them. There are simply too many variations in types of acne, types of skin, causes of acne not to mention individuals themselves to be able to say with any certainty that one acne remedy is the be-all end-all of all acne remedies.
With all that said however, doing a bit of research to find the various home remedies for acne that people claim to have had success with his eye-opening experience. They range from the wilds and innocuous to the truly bizarre. Below you'll find a few of the suggested home remedies for acne that came up repeatedly in our research.
Home Remedy for Acne
When most people talk about a home remedy for acne they're referring to some kind of topical solution created in the kitchen. For example, creating a paced by grinding and orange peel in water then applying that to your face seems to be one popular acne home remedy. Another is mixing honey with cinnamon and applying that overnight as a natural remedy for your acne problems. As I mentioned, it certainly doesn't sound harsh... though it does sound kind of messy.
Slightly less messy options include rubbing fresh mint juice on your face. This is mostly good for not only pimples but also for insect bites, eczema, and other skin irritations. Another juice option is raw papaya juice. Another option to rub on your face, while not exactly a juice, seems to be garlic. Rubbing garlic on your face and on and around the temples seems to be a popular acne home remedy. I'm sorry but, I'm picturing a teenager who is already self-conscious due to an acne breakout now needing to also deal with the awkward smile that comes from having garlic rubbed all over their face. I don't think this would be my first choice.
One of the final home remedies for acne that I read about involved Apple cider vinegar. In this case it's not a topical treatment. Rather, you mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (make a point of it being organic apple cider vinegar), with a glass of water and drink that every morning. I'm not exactly sure the reasoning behind this but once again it came out multiple times in the research for the best acne treatment using a natural remedy approach.
The last, and in my opinion most intriguing approach to treating acne naturally involves coming up it from a completely different angle. Rather than thinking of an acne breakout is something to be treated at the symptom (in other words, the actual pimples/breakout themselves), the idea was to look at the source. In doing so, researchers claimed that acne breakouts, along with all those of other health issues, comes from inflammation. Inflammation has been shown to be the cause of everything from arthritis to fibromyalgia to lower sex drive. One of the primary treatments for systemic inflammation is omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil.
Fish oil and fatty acids have been talked about for a long time in health-related circles. For years it was considered kind of on the fringe. However, much medical research in the past few years has pointed to the fact that fish oil is indeed a very healthy and beneficial supplement for many people. One of the ideas is that we are exposed to many more toxins in our environment and fish oils help regulate those additional toxins in our system. Whatever the explanation, the fact is that there is indisputable evidence that fish oil, specifically omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil, can have tremendous beneficial effects on a person's overall health. Whether it can be used as a natural remedy for acne breakouts I can't say for sure. But it's clearly good for you overall, being motivated to include in your diet to consider acne might not be such a bad thing for you.
In the end it's clear that it's not clear at all. Or another way of saying it, it's about as clear as mud. There are far too many options and too many variables to be able to give one definitive answer to what is the best acne treatment whether you're talking about pharmaceuticals or home remedies for acne. The good thing is that you have plenty of options to try. Most likely, if you were to try one or another home remedy for acne listed above, you wouldn't be any worse off than you are now. You also would not have spent a whole lot of money as you might even be able to find some of these things in her kitchen right now.
One other treatment that I came across but forgot to mention was green tea. Apparently many people have had success running the moist green tea bag on the affected areas. Whether that natural remedy is the best acne treatment out of all the home remedies for acne I can't say. But again, you have little to lose and it works... hey, why not.
