Home Remedies For Insomnia That Work!
65So you’ve had a long day, that you’re weary from, you head on home, eat dinner, do the chores that needed to be done, watch some TV and now you’re ready for bed, you lie down in the bed but for some reason you just can’t get yourself to fall asleep. Your eyes are not heavy and you’re having problems entering into “Sleep mode”, what happened? Insomnia happened.
If you suffer from insomnia, one of the first things you’ll want to try out are some home remedies for insomnia as most people avoid the doctor like the plague. Assuming this is the case, here are a few solutions you can try in the comfort of your home which hopefully will help you get rid of this annoying condition:
1. Exercise Before Bed
Out of all the home remedies for insomnia, this one is probably one of the most effective. If you’re having trouble getting to sleep, have a strenuous 1 hour workout right before bed. Lift weights and do cardio on a treadmill or an elliptical and really push your body to the limit. This will not only help you to burn excess fat, but it will tire you out big time. Once your body is physically exhausted, it will be much easier to fall asleep.
2. Take a relaxing shower/bath
This is probably the second most effective of the home remedies for insomnia, but lets not play favorites, this works even better when used in combination with the first tip. In fact, as soon as you finish exercising, jump into a nice hot bath and soak in it for a good 30 minutes before heading off to bed. I know this is a lot of time investment just to fall asleep, if you can only afford 10 minutes in the bath and 30 minutes in working out, then do that, I’m only saying what is optimal here.
3. Stay Away From Caffeine, Alcohol and Tobacco
All of the above mentioned products are stimulants which will do nothing but keep you awake all night. Stay away from them like the plague, especially late at night.
4. Get Rid Of Illuminated Clocks
One thing which can keep you up at night is an illuminated bedtime clock. Get rid of any bright stimulus in your room, you want it to be completely dark so that it is that much easier to fall asleep.
5. Count Sheep
Ok, this probably tops the charts for the most popular of home remedies for insomnia, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not useful. It became popular for a reason, it works. So, close your eyes, relax and begin counting sheep jumping over an imaginary fence.
Hopefully at least one of these home remedies for insomnia work out for you. If not, do the last thing that was on your mind and make an appointment to see your doctor!
