Home Remedy for Acne
69In this article I will explain why I would never use a home remedy for acne. By home remedy I mean any acne cure that is not a product or treatment provided by a dermatologist or produced by a pharmacutical company. I am talking about the acne remedies that are passed on from friend to friend and from family to family.
All home remedies for acne seem to fall into one of three categories. First we have the remedies that involve using household items to solve the problem of acne. For example, a common remedy is to squirt toothpaste onto your pimples! The second category contains the home remedies for acne that use natural or organic ingredients. And the third group consists of those remedies which require the employment of an existing conventional acne product in a way that is not recommended by the manufacturer. This usually takes the form of upping the dosage or combining one or more products.
I would never use a home remedy for acne on my spots and pimples for a number of reasons, as detailed below.
Why I won't rely on home remedies for curing acne
In my opinion, pimples can be cured by using existing treatment and conventional products without resorting to a home remedy for acne. There are countless acne products on the market, ranging from acne soaps, creams and acne body washes, to laser treatment, oral medication and supplements. I would have to have exhausted a great number of these acne treatments, before I was tempted to try a home remedy for pimples.
There are several important disadvantages to home remedies for acne that put me off. Firstly, home remedies have not been tested, except in an ad hoc fashion. Conventional acne treatments have been clinically tested, and the side effects have been identified. I am not keen to try an acne remedy that has not been trialled and may actually end up damaging my skin further, rather than bringing about a cure to my acne.
Secondly, bringing together a home remedy for acne is potentially time consuming and tricky. I would rather invest in a proven acne treatment than mess around with an unproven one.
Whichever route you chose to beat your acne, it is worth reiterating some advice that I was told. Be patient, but be prepared to chance treatment if you are satisfied that your current approach is not working. There are lots of very effective acne treatments available online, so if your current one isn't working well enough for you, it might be time for a change.
