So you bought a house that isn't exactly what you wanted. Maybe you have had your home for a while and all the sudden it's as if everything is falling apart at once. Who has the money to hire someone to come in and do the work? Not me! Well, are you just going to let that faucet drip? Are you just going to tuck towels in around the door to keep the outside elements from coming in? Hey, what about that counter top with all the scratches on it? The constant running toilet and the old light fixtures...

You don't have to have a lot of money to start getting your home back into shape. Once a week or even once a month pick one thing to fix and DO IT YOURSELF! You will be amazed what you can do. When you are finished you can say "I did that".

There are many Do-It Yourself books available. It is amazing what a difference a change in lighting does to a room or even a coat of paint. Here is a list of somethings you can do yourself to improve your home and and save you money.

* Plumbing- No one really likes to do it but when its complete the whole house is thankful.

* Lighting- You can go from bright and energetic to soft and romantic.

* Counter tops- Adding 2in. tiles over your existing counter tops makes a huge difference. People will think you spent a lot of money.

* Painting- Dirty or smoke covered walls really make people squint their noses up. What an eye sore.

* Shelves and Storage- Adding shelves and storage to your home cuts back on clutter.

* Floors- Repairing that squeaky floor, laying carpet or installing hard wood floors add comfort and style.

* Patio and Decks- Building a patio or deck gives you a place where you can relax or cook out. A place where friends and family can come together and visit as the kids run and play in the yard.
