Security Surveillance System

According to the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics, property crime has been on a steady decline since 1972.  However, there were still over 14 million reports of property crime reported last year which accounts for 75% of all crime in the United States.  The FBI calculates that there is a burglary every 8 seconds and that 3 out of 4 homes will be burglarized in the next 20 years.  We still have a long way to go.

The use of a security camera surveillance system to secure your home against thieves and other intruders is a good idea.  It doesn’t matter if you live in a home or an apartment, video surveillance security is a good way to deter would be thieves and intruders.

Wireless Video Surveillance is sufficient for most home dwellings.

Wireless Video Surveillance

Wireless video surveillance is the way to go for most home security.  Wireless cameras are easy to hook up and mount and it cuts down on the use of tangle prone wires.  A wireless signal is sent to a receiver that is hooked up to the device you are using to monitor your security.

The amount of cameras you need depends on the size of the area you want to secure.  You will want to mount a camera at all the main entry points to your home or apartment, such as the front and back doors and garage entries.  For most apartments two to three cameras will be sufficient.  For homes, you may want a few more to secure any rooms that contain valuable equipment, furniture or artwork.  And you may want to add cameras that will monitor the main hallways or areas with several first floor windows.

Video Surveillance Security System

A video surveillance security system is pretty much useless without a monitoring system. Most security camera surveillance systems used in homes today are connected to some form of DVR that records all the video and a computer that the owner can log into and view at anytime from anyplace. This is necessary to assist in the recovery of property and prosecution of intruders.

Most security professionals will tell you that security camera surveillance alone is not enough. However, statistics prove that the mere presence of security cameras is enough to deter most would be intruders. Of course, that all depends on the desperation of the intruder.

To fully secure your dwelling, it would be advisable to contract with an outside monitoring service provider.  This could get expensive as there will be a monthly recurring bill along with the installation and financing of expensive security and monitoring equipment.

Secure your home and your family

As I stated earlier, the mere presence of video survellance security is enough of a deterrent, regardless of what you have seen on TV about thieves blacking out surveillance camears to gain entry.  That is TV and done for dramatic affect.  Most thieves know that cameras capture faces and faces lead to convictions.

Check out some of the quality security camera surveillance systems I am listing, read their reviews and make an educated decision to secure your home and your family from would be intruders. Dont let yourself or your family become a victim of property crime.
