Home Remedies for Teeth Whitening
Here are several home remedies for teeth whitening.
If you try any, let me know in a comment how you get on!
- Mix equal amounts of lemon juice and salt to form a paste. Apply this to yellowing spots on teeth, its said to be one of the most effective tooth whitening remedies by some people. ( see further below about lemon juice)
- Rubbing some walnut tree bark on your teeth is also said to remove stains from them, you could also try hardwood ash as it contains potassium hydroxide, an effective teeth whitener
- Mixing equal amounts of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide (a teaspoon or two of each, careful not to swallow!) and rinsing well is another method of how to get whiter teeth.
- Washing your mouth out with salty water can also help keep them clean and white, as can adding a little salt on top of your toothpaste, this can make your mouth feel sparkling clean
- Try rubbing your teeth with the inside of an orange peel.
Methods people have used include brushing with lemon juice or cider vinegar, I recommend against these as they are said to be too abrasive and could wear away the enamel on your teeth after time!
As always, prevention is better than cure, if you smoke, quit, you'll be healthier too! Also avoid drinks such as coffee. Smoking and coffee are bad for teeth as these can stain teeth after a while.

Wow, thanks again for the advice. I'll send you my photo once I get to do this! Hehehe!
I'll try one of these ideas, too, one of these days.
I agree that damage will probably occur with repeated use of lemon juice or cider vinegar. The potential for damage, however, would not due to their abrasiveness (a wearing away by friction). It would be associated with the acidic nature of these liquids (which have a pH on the order of 2.3 to 3.4). These acids would literally DISSOLVE away mineralized tooth structure (enamel and dentin) with each use.
i dont think any of these works and trust me iv tried most of them, i think if you have the money go to your dentist have it done there, its safer and you'll get visible results. i only dream of that day, i have terrieble and for some reason really yellow teeth even though i brush them twice or more a day! soo not fair!
although tasting bad, I foud that lemon juice and salt works.
im planning on trying some of the remedies...i've heard the baking soda w/ hydrogen peoxide works...so im going to try using it... and see if it works!!!
Fro most of our clients, its either the natural remedies spoken of above, or go to a dentist...forget about the junk at the drugstore.
I just tried all of these and my gums were bleeding and now it burns thnxs
peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches
just try a cup of salt water to swill round after brushing instead of a mouthwash. i saw the difference in a matter of days !
Thats sounds great i will have to try it... I have a blog that I review a product that has worked great for me. Visit my blog a read my white teeth story. Emmasteethwhitening.info

I brushed my teeth less for a while, substituting salt water rinsing and making sure I hit all the hard to reach spots when I did brush my teeth. My dentist commented on how exceptionally clean my teeth were the next time I went in (overdue as always). I don't know what's so great about salt water, but it works wonders (supplementing tooth-brushing).
