Home Solar Power For Everyone !
64Print Your Own Solar Panels For Home Solar Power !
Have you ever dreamed of having home solar power ? An inexpensive flexible plastic solar panel could finally be the key to affordable home solar power.
An inexpensive solar cell has been developed that can be painted or printed on flexible plastic sheets. The process was developed at New Jersy Institute of Technology. Lead researcher, Somenath Mitra, says " Someday homeowners will be able to print sheets of these solar cells with inexpensive inkjet printers. Consumers can then slap the finished product on a wall, roof or billboard to create their own solar power stations."
"Imagine some day driving in your hybrid car with an organic polymer solar cell painted on the roof, which is producing electricity to drive the engine. The possibilities are endless !" said Mitra.
These revolutionary solar cells are made from a mixture of carabon nanotubes and tiny carbon Buckyballs ( known as fullerenes ). The Buckyballs trap electrons and the nanotubes act like highly efficient copper wires to conduct the electrons. As soon as the cell is exposed to sunlight, the current begins flowing.
"Someday I hope to see this process become an inexpensive energy alternative for households around the world, " said Mithra. More information is availbable in the June 21, 2007 issue of Juounal of Materials Chemistry.
This is just one example of the many exciting advances happening in home solar power now. The dream of an affordable fully solar powered home is just around the corner.
However, you don't need to wait. There are affordable solutions available now, to add the advantages of solar power to your home or cottage. Check out this site for more information: Teach Yourself All About Solar Power.
I will be providing more news soon.
Stay tuned !
