Though there are many colon cleansing products available that can help you cleanse your colon, there are some people who prefer to concoct their own homemade colon cleanse using day to day items that are present in their kitchen. Almost all of us have salt in the house and there are herbs and spices that can help too. So it isn't that difficult to try a homemade colon cleanse to see how it works.

So I decided I'd put together some suggestions of different common household ingredients that can help you cleanse your colon. You should be starting to feel better soon. And if you find that you really don't want to go to the effort of making your own cleanse, then a product like Ultimate Colon Cleanse is probably the best thing for you. It includes anti-parasite herbs to help make your cleanse really effective.

Salt Water Flush

The simplest way is to opt for some salt water therapy in the form of a salt water flush.

Drink a glass of lukewarm water containing sea salt dissolved in it. Try about 1 tablespoon of salt to one liter of water. Do not use refined or iodized salt since they are not so beneficial. The salt won't be absorbed by your body and as it passes through your intestine, it takes the toxins and parasites along with it, thereby cleansing your colon. Repeat this treatment for a few days and you will observe marked differences in your health. And you will definitely clear up any constipation that you might have.

Just be aware that salt water flushes tend to work rapidly. You don't want to drink the mixture just before your morning commute. You can expect to urgently have to relieve yourself within 30-60 minutes or so.

Herbs & Spices for Colon Cleansing

Ingredients like aloe leaf, ginger, senna, cayenne, and pepper can help get things moving in your gut and intestinal tract. Garlic and fennel also helps destroy bacteria present in the colon too. Try drinking a senna tea before bedtime for a gentle way to get things moving properly in the morning.

For the other herbs and spices, try adding fresh ingredients to your dishes or try some different teas and juices. Aloe makes a refreshing juice. Cayenne, pepper and garlic all add a bit of bite to flavor your food. Just make sure your meals are made from fresh whole ingredients.

Juicing for Health

Drinking fresh juices derived from vegetables and fresh fruit also helps in cleansing your colon. Remember, you should only drink blended or freshly squeezed juice with no sugars added. And you want juice with pulp in them.

Good jucies for colon cleansing are apple juices, lemon juices and you can try some mixed vegetable juices. Try juicing some carrots, beets and fresh celery.

Acai berry juice is also beneficial and you can read more in my hub Acai Berry and Colon Cleansing.

You can also add some flax seeds since they contain a good proportion of omega 3 fatty acids that also helps protect against heart disease

Have a Bentonite Clay Shake

You can also use bentonite clay which is a natural detoxifying agent for the intestine. It will help bind and eliminate the crud. For how to make it, read my hub on How to Make a P&B Shake

Change Your Diet

There is one word of warning though, before you try any recipes for colon cleansing. You should first of all, try to fix your dietary habits. Most problems of the colon are directly related to improper dietary habits. People often eat more than their system can digest and the extra food remains back in their body. This food rots over a period of time and forms a suitable breeding ground for parasites leading to ill health.

In time these parasites and toxic wastes also clog up the colon and do not allow it to function properly. You should know that most ailments that you face have their origin in your colon. Opting in for a colon cleanse removes these parasites along with the other harmful toxins and permits your colon to work perfectly.

You will be amazed to know that your improper bowel movement, lack of lusture on your skin, acidity related problems, and much more are directly related to an improperly functioning colon. The main task to resolve colon related problems lies in cleansing the same.

Eating proper food plays the most important part. This means cutting out the refined and packaged junk and replacing it with natural and whole foods. Fiber-rich fresh fruits and vegetables are ideal. Cut back on fried foods, packaged foods and excess amounts of sugar.
