Benefits of Making Homemade Soap
Are you looking for alternatives to the commercial soaps out there and thought about making your own soaps ? How about adding your own touch to the soap that you are using and make your own homemade soap.
There are some great benefits to crafting your own homemade soaps, and to boot, it can be even better for your skin than a lot of the commercial soaps out there.
One of the major benefits of making your own soaps, is that it leaves Glycerine behind. This Glycerine is created by the chemical proccess that happens during the saop making process. Most commercial soaps actually extract the Glycerine so that they can sell it as a seperate product. Now the nice thing about Glycerine is that us act as a humectant, meaining it attracts moisture to the skin. You end up with a soap that doesn't leave your skin feeling all dry after using it, and costing you less than having to buy those expensive soap.
It can also help with sensitive skin where soaps tend to create some allergic reactions - seeing that you are controlling what's going into that soap. Because you have control of what goes into the soap, you can ensure that you're only using ingredients that your skin is happy with.
And of course. Making your own soaps, you always can have that special gift to give that nobody else can.
Did you know
All soap contains Lye and Fats to create what we call soap. The Saponification process is what happens when joining the two together.
Now, the main ingredients that go into soaps are:
Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) also know as Lye, Animal Fat, Various Oils. There are various proccesses that you go through to combine these and make wonderful smelling and looking soaps.
Many of these products can be found at your local grocery store and with a bit of shopping around, you will easily find your soap comes in cheaper than the store bought variety. Well, unless you go for the really fancy and more exotic oils and fats out there.
So, go out there and have fun by making your own soap. You could even go as far as selling these soaps, and making some extra income at the end of the day. And ideal opportuinity for stay at home moms.

Great hub. I'll tell my husband about it right away :)
This is good information, would get my kids to try it -sounds very fun!
This sound great. Nice information. I will also try it for sure.
What I like about this is that once you have made the soap you know exactly what is inside it. My family have sensitive skin and commercial soaps with any scent tend to cause us to develop a rash or just redness. Great hub!
It's nice to be able to get an alternative to mass produced items where you don't know the content.
cool - I didn't know you could just make soap at home!
