Homestay: Live With a Family and Learn About Culture, Life, and Food in Another Country First Hand

A homestay is when one person from one country stays with a family in another country. Typically, everything is taken care of for the home stayer. That includes three meals a day, washing of clothing, and room cleaning. The home-stayer has a first hand opportunity to learn about the life and culture in the country where he or she is staying. There is also the opportunity to learn a new language and to help your new family members to learn about your language. You can choose home stays located in the middle of Bangkok or in the green countryside of a village in rural China. The choice is yours and the choices worldwide are infinite.

As a part of your new family, it is likely that you will be invited to share in holiday events unique to that culture and that your new family will provide you with personalized tours of the city, countryside, cultural and historical landmarks. Home stays are offered for various lengths of time, among them are three month, six month, and one year home stay opportunities. With a little research a person interested in a home stay can find locations to stay at around the world including rain forest home-stays in Costa Rica. Friendships made with families during a home stay can last a lifetime.

Earn Extra Money During Your Travels or Homestay

While you are on your home-stay or just traveling around the world, why not consider setting up a Hub Pages account and start writing about your experiences and make royalties at the same time.

Hub Pages gives you this opportunity to make money from Google AdSense, Amazon Books, EBay, and Kontera. Google AdSense ads appear on your hub pages. The ads are relevant to your topic on each individual hub page. The Amazon products displayed on your hub pages work in the same way, books about the topic of your Hub Pages (if travel for example), whether they be about travel in Asia, Europe or elsewhere are featured on your Hub Pages. It is similar to having your own website. So, why not help finance your trip abroad or earn some extra money writing about your travel experiences or your favorite topic.

You can upload new Hub Pages from anywhere around the world that has an Internet connection. As an example, I am writing this Hub Page from an Internet cafe in a small Latin American village. Hibiscus flowers are blossoming a rosy red and geekos are resting on the walls outside. The calls of exotic birds can be heard beyond. I have been travelling in Latin America for the past year and a half. The USA is my home country.

Hub Pages is online twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week- make extra income while you are taking a tour of the city or sleeping? That is absolutely correct!

"Ain't" ain't a word. My high school English teachers pounded that into my head. And they were right — "ain't" is not proper English. On the other hand, it is used colloquially by people all over the English-speaking world. Language is not just limited to those words found in reference books and textbooks. Whether formally recognized or not, utterances people use every day are language. So if ...
