The Honda Fit A Review
I love my 2008 Honda Fit, I've owned Honda's for years and when I needed to replace my other car it was off to the Honda dealer first. I walked into the dealer set on buying an Accord or a Civic. The saleman listened to what I said, and asked me " Have you considered a Fit". I was unaware of the car, despite it being sold in Japan and Europe under another name for some time. The next thing I knew the general manager was demononstrating how the seats fold down and you can get tons of storage space. I was impressed, it was spacious inside and was fun to drive, the seats fold back for remarkable storage space. I was sold and walked out with a bright red Fit with a sport package.
Things I like:
- The space, it's easy for large people to fit in the Fit.
- The mileage is great I get 27 mpg in in mostly city driving. That varies based on traffic etc.. but on avarage that's what I get.
- The mileage on on the freeway is much better , I get 35 mpg or so.
- It's actually pretty responsive from a acceleration perspective. It's not a Ferrari. If you want that do not buy a Fit.
Things I do not like:
- The interior has small rattles , can be annoying.
- The visability out the back is restricted by the headrests of the rear seats.
- The gas tank is small 10 gallons or so. so even at good mileage the range is limited.
Some Basic Fit Facts:
Engine- Transmission
The Fit has a1.5-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 109 hp and 105 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is standard I do not have that and a five-speed automatic is optional. The Sport models with the automatic transmission have a "S" mode that use paddle shifters, this is pretty neat.
Safety
The things has airbags and lots of them, I feel safe in it..
Space
It's 60 inches tall and 66.2 inches wide so it's wider that it is tall. It's pretty short and very easy to park. The Sport model I have has fifteen-inch alloy wheels, what Honda call's a I think a "aero package"and it has a small spoiler in the back to keep it on the ground when racing the exotic Euro cars ;-)
Price:
My Fit cost about 15K US Dollars before my friendly dealer got me to add options extras etc.
