Honda VTX 1300R (Retro)

My Honda VTX

I am a proud owner of a Honda VTX 1300R. This is my second bike I have ever owned. I highly enjoy motorcycle riding. I have started this blog for discussions on the Honda VTX line. I want to hear from all owners. Weather you own a first year VTX or and 1800cc version. I want to hear about your pros and cons about your Honda. I hope to post more regarding my experiences with my Honda VTX.

By the way my Honda VTX is a 2005 Honda VTX 1300R. I bought it in April 2006. I traded in my old 1994 Suzuki RF600R for it and decided I could not pass up the deal.

Since my purchase I have enjoyed the comfort of my cruiser style motorcycle. I will share with you more on my experiences. Please ask questions for make comments. Thank you.

Accesories

You can find all kinds of accessories for you VTX online. Just to name a few J&P cycles, Dennis Kirk and biker bandit. Over the last 3 years of ownership I have added some nice accessories to customize and make my VTX more comfortable. I added saddlebags, a sissy bar/back rest, performance air cleaner, exhaust, carburetor jet kit and some small chrome pieces. Accessorizing makes your bike stand out and gives it your own personal touch.

In the future I would like to add some highway bars, rear flour board foot rests and some LED lighting to accent the look.

Let me know how you have accessorized your VTX.

Winter on its way.

This has to be the most depressing time of year for motorcycle  riders. I just washed up the bike to put it away soon for the winter. I am hoping to get a ride or two in before old man winter comes. The one good thing to look forward to is that my Christmas list has more accessories for my VTX. We will just have to see if Santa comes through fo rme.

Maybe this winter I will post a bit on my local roads that are good for scenic motorcyle rides. Check back now and then.

Rain Rain Go Away!

Well it has been raining so much here I can not even get the bike out. Well, time for me to read about good motorcycle road trips and such. Hoping Spring comes early next year but that is a long ways off even if it comes early. Can you tell I am not a Winter person?

Next post I will try to add one about a good motorcycle road to take in my area.

The Great River Road

One of the best roads to ride Spring through Fall is the Great River Road (route 100) in Illinois. The stretch between Alton, IL and Grafton, IL or even farther can be a very relaxing ride. Towering bluffs on one side and the Mississippi on the other. You can experience ice floating down the river on early warm Spring days and awesome Fall colors in the trees along the bluffs in the Fall.

There are many stops along the way. From Fast Eddies, the Alton Belle Casino, The Loading Dock Bar & Grill and the antique shops in Grafton. Oh don't forget the wineries either. You can even stop and read about the legendary Piasa Bird. Sometimes if the weather cooperates in late winter you can see the Bald Eagles flying from their nests along the bluffs.

Alton is located about 20 miles North of St. Louis, Mo along the Mississippi river. The stretch of road between Alton and Grafton is  approx. 15 miles of scenic 4 lane devided state highway.

If your in the area on your motorcycle just give it a whirl. You won't be disappointed.
