This was my first canister vac after many years of post ... I have a canister that time, because we have a lot of hardwood floors and I wanted something that would clean everything (carpets, upholstery, stairs, curtains, wood floors) without continually pull out hoses, etc. I was disappointed ... although it does an excellent job of cleaning, I find it very cumbersome and unwieldy to operate. It is not simply draw its own cable - you have to bend and lift them up, and it is not good glide over my carpets - you have to lug around. The brush head is bulky and heavy, and I can not control it very well, so that it bangs into my furniture legs. The cable is not long enough to do it all the way to the stairs, and it is very difficult to bear in one hand while you vacuum the stairs.

It is probably a big vacuum, if they are used canisters ... Update - Sept 2006. Well, it was not long before this vacuum was relegated to "just upstairs" (I only vacuum on the first floor 2-3 times a week, as opposed to daily dust eyes below). I bought a Dyson for downstairs - I had a Dyson many years ago, when I lived in England and loved it - but was due to the high price, when they finally arrived in the United States. A few months ago I finally the plunge and bought one (and I am very happy with it). Unfortunately, I have with the Hoover hated so much that most of the time I just took the floor anyway Dyson. I still believe that most of my problems are, because I can not get used with a Canister Vacuum, so do not let my review set off if a container is what you want - this machine is really a great task, dust eyes, it's just that I personally find it very cumbersome to use.
