Hormonal imbalance is something that can cause several bodily changes. Acne is one of the most common problems that one can face while going through hormonal changes. There has been enough evidence to prove a correlation between the two conditions. So, you might have noticed that adults suffer from acne, but not children. The reason is that children do not undergo hormonal changes; rather, these phenomena are usually confined to adults. Hormonal imbalance is a condition that brings about acne in adults. Acne is also experienced by women undergoing menopause. During this period, sudden hormonal imbalances can occur in women, leading the way to several physical problems, the most common of which is acne. Hormonal imbalance can occur at different times in a woman's lifetime, such as during pregnancy, menstruation, and menopause.

Almost all the types of acne are similar in nature. This is the main reason why you can’t differentiate between the types of acne. In women, especially, acne can fall under different categories but due to their similarities it is difficult to identify which particular type of acne problem you are going through. So experts have examined the following characteristics to determine why acne is experienced by women who are undergoing menopause. Acne, for one, can be caused by an imbalance in the hormone androgen. The symptoms are mostly visible, but some are hidden: excessive growth in bodily hair, acne flare-ups right before menstruation, irregularities in menstruation, and a rise in androgen levels in the blood.

There are certain medications that can be used for the treatment of acne. Such treatments are used to suppress the androgen level in the blood, thus resulting in a reduction in excessive body oils. A low dosage of contraceptive pills can be taken in order to restrict the rise of androgen levels. So, while going through certain hormonal imbalances, you may experience acne or some other bodily changes. Visit the doctor to find out the right kind of solution for a problem like acne.
