65Getting a degree in advertising, graphic arts or public relations can lead to careers which are exciting and financially rewarding. Many students begin their careers even before graduating through intenships with advertising and public relations firms.
Let's examine a campaign at a fictional agency called Smith & Smith. We will see how experts in different fields are working together to make the campaign a success. Each of these different jobs are very creative and rewarding with above average pay. It takes a college degree to do most every job needed in advertising but it's worth the work.

Not so Famous Tony of Famous Tony Pizza Delivery calls the agency and tells Mr. Smith " I need to sell a lot more pizza." Mr Smith assures Tony it will be done, we will help you sell a lot of pizza and they agree on pricing and how big an ad campaign Famous Tony needs. This is step 1
Step 2 A Proposal
At this point an Account Executive enlists the aid of two more company experts. A Senior Copywriter and an Art Director join with the Account Exexcutive, sometimes called the Account Manager, and they create the first proposal. The account manager works as a liason between the client and the crew working on the ad campaign. If Famous Tony likes the proposal then its on to step 3.

The account executive, Art Director and Copywriter work together to oversee the creative arts, media services and production staff working on the campaign. It will need the combined efforts of writers, graphic arts professionals and media production staff to complete the campaign.
The whole while the account management staff stay in contact with the client for reaction to the ad and it's effectiveness. The agency also will use marketing research analysts to keep the campaign focused on the target market .
Web Media and Marketing experts maximize the effectiveness of Famous Tony's online presence. Webmasters and SEO experts will work with graphic designers and copywriters whose specialty is writing for the web to optimize or even build the client's web presence.
After the writers, photographers, video experts and planners and analysts finish the campaign is presented to Tony who is soon to be much more famous due to the power of advertising. He likes the ads, suggests a few small changes which are then incorporated into the campaign and it goes out live on TV, in print and on the Internet. The agency collects it's fee and has a new ongoing source of income from a happy client.
