Hot Crispy French Fries on the Grill
71French Fries on The Barbeque?
No I am not kidding you. I stumbled across this recipe not too long ago. I was looking for something I can use as a side dish for the chicken breasts I was grilling. This recipe is simple, easy, and the results are incredible.
To start I like to use an aluminum lasagne pan. We typically recycle these pans for this purpose. Also these pans fit one half of my grill perfectly.
If you have been following my previous barbeque recipes, you will recall that I typically cook meat indirectly. Meaning the burner directly under the meat is turned off, and the burner on the otherside is turned on. This is the side you want to use to cook your fries.
Add you favorite frozen french fries to the pan and place on the grill. We typically use McCain's Crinkle cut fries. but any will do. The key thing to remember is that they are on direct heat. Supervison is necessary to keep them from burning.
To this end I like to use my tongs every five minutes to stir them up. This keeps them from sticking to the bottom of the pan. After about 20 minutes, turn the heat under the fries down to the lowest setting and let it sit five minutes. At this time, they will be cooked through, hot and crispy. You will also find they turn out far more golden brown than anything you cook in the oven.
Enjoy.

Whatever Media are saying about good, old, hot, crispy french fries I don't care, because I adore it far too much, anytime really. Thanks for reminding me!
It's chips in your country, isn't it, solarshingles?
I've thought of doing this before, but didn't know how to go about it. Now, I must try this, as I am beyond hungry, and needed to see something like this as a catalyst to make me go out and eat something with a lot of calories. Very timely too, with the holiday and all.
Great hub, and thanks for sharing this info!
What I find funny, is that the Google Adsense links that I am seeing right now have nothing to do with French Fries, chips of barbeque. Must be targeting the keyword Hot in the Title of the hub.
Now with that said, I hope the three of you enjoy those fries/chips.
Yes, well, we call it chips, here...even though I don't care about the name, until the french fries/chips is tasty
Yeah, it does that when you first post a hub. It usually says something about tatoos (I must get into the tatoo business to make money, apparently). If you look now, it's nothing but French Fries, Grillin', and Barbequin'!
Went to the store last night like I said, and bought a bag of "chips". Going to try them on the barby to see how it works out!
Cheers!
Giant - you have some great recipes! Thanks for sharing. My kids don't like my baked potatoes so this will be an easy alternative. Thanks
