Jobs Increasing in Texas
The graphs included here show the percentage increase in job listings posted to the search engine Indeed.Com over a six-month period. They show that even during the Recession of 2008-2009, Texas employers listed an increasing number of job vacancies resulting from employee turnover, the opening of new businesses, expansion of current companies, and the emergence of new jobs from development in cooperation via formalized partnerships among profit, government, non-profit, and higher education agencies and companies.
The 2009 - 2010 Stimulus Package to Texas that provides ongong impetuis for new job creation to proceed through 2012 amounted to $16 Billion.
StateRecovery.org was launched an informative site for tracking Texas progress from the site of The Council of State Governments-WEST.
While, Texas did lose 46,000 jobs in February 2009, other jobs were added. In fact, that state government (Comptroller's Office) reported that from 2004 - 2009, Texas added over 1,100,000 new jobs. March '09 unemployment stood at 6.5%, lower than the national rate of 8.5%.

In analyzing the available data, I find that the highest numbers of job listings to be posted by employers in the following list of Metropolitan Areas of Texas, in descending order of number of listings each.
The company listings mentioned below are Internet listings. Remember that not all job openings are listed on the Internet, particularly interestings positions offered by new small business owners. Sustainability employment and green collar jobs may listed on their own job boards in addition to, or instead of, major job search engines like Indeed, SimplyHired, Monster, Yahoo HotJobs, and others.
Still other positions are not listed regularly, but are available in what is known as the "Hidden Job Market." These may be jobs listed only internally within a company, or very new and not yet listed anywhere, or similar.

San Antonio - Hottest Spot in Texas For Jobs 2009 - 2012.
7,700 new jobs opened in February 2009 alone – during a Recession (2008 - 2009). Nursing job listings increased 1,100%, Total Health & Medical? Up 800% Since July 2005, overal jobs have increased from 400% to off the chart.
Unemployment remained over 2% lower than for the nation, with jobs available in Heath and Medical, Education (huge increases forecast Pre-K – College), Government, Engineering, Computers, Retail, Counseling, Aerospace, and Life Sciences. This is before the use of the Employment & Training related 2009-2011 Stimulus Package Funds even started distribution. Stimulus monies kicked them into high gear.

Baylor Health Care, Robert Half Finance & Accounting, Raytheon, JPMorgan Chase, Critical Connection, Blockbuster (Part-time and Full-time, Kforce Professional Staffing, Ajilon Professional Staffing, Cybercoders, Medical Connections, Children's Medical Center, and AppleOne.

Thirteen counties in Oklahoma and Texas combined to make the Texoma Region. Sports and political rivalries were set aside in order to grow the economy and create new jobs.
This metro area received some $5 Million in Stimulus Package funds to help job seekers in a number of groups as well as to extend Unemployment Benefits for an additional 13 weeks to help Displaced Workers wait and prepare for new jobs being created by such institutions as Workforce Development contractor, College of Kilgore and others. Job openings have been increasing since 2005.

Hi eovery - Good economic development plans help, along with colleges working with business to create internships and fulltime jobs, for another thing. Probably many others as well We'd all like to see more green jobs certainly, and El Paso has been working on cleaning its air since the 1960s; they're doing better now. El Paso gained additional 1000 and 1100 jobs in Feb and March, even though unemployment was 8.2%, so that figure should decrease, espceially after the Stimulus monies are put forward. So I'm doing a Hub on El Paso now. Will be done soon.
