How Feng Shui and House Number Harmony Work

There are many important components of creating harmony with Feng Shui. Many people, however, wonder if house numbers play an important role. Unfortunately, there is no definite answer, as a number of varying factors must be taken into consideration. Why? Because a house number by itself does not create problems, but negativity can be created when combined with other aspects.

House Numbers Feng Shui

The numbers 1, 6, and 8 are the most favorable numbers according to Feng Shui principles. On the other hand, the most unfavorable numbers are 2 and 5. While important, you are urged against buying a home based solely on its house number. Instead, examine other important elements of Feng Shui, including location and the surrounding area. Based on the Bagua, the home should face in a good direction and negative forces, such as cemeteries and electrical lines, should not be found nearby. For many, this is a more realistic approach than buying a home simply because of its house number.

As previously stated, the close proximity of negative forces and aspects should be examined. Electrical lines, cemeteries, large buildings, and hospitals should be as distant as possible. A favorable home number when combined with an energy flowing location is the perfect combination. Some suggest harmonizing important birth dates with house numbers, whenever possible.

If you are lucky and able to find a home with favorable house numbers, you are urged to use this to your advantage. Be sure to consult with the annual star chart. Doing so enables you to examine the yearly number position change and the impact it can have on the location of your home and your life. Should you later decide to relocate or sell your home, those with favorable Feng Shui numbers are quick sellers.

As a reminder, we can't all choose our house numbers. So, what should you do if your house number is unfavorable or inauspicious? The first step involves making changes outside of your home. Avoid displaying the house numbers on the door or outside walls. A nearby porch area that is clean, home to metal, and lush green plants can counteract inauspicious numbers.

If you are looking to purchase a new home and have the freedom to choose from multiple home numbers, remember that 1, 6, and 8 are favorable. The numbers 2 and 5 are considered the worst. Creating a positive, free-flowing chi movement is another way to cancel out an inauspicious house number. Review your home and consult with the many elements of Feng Shui to create a positive energy that is able to flow freely around your home.

To help create a free flowing environment for chi energy, wind chimes are recommended. Those that are made of hollow metal, are point free, and constructed with five rods can be placed on a porch. Water, one of the five elements of Feng Shui, can help to absorb and ward off bad chi with the use of birth baths and fountains.

Another way to provide your home with protection from the unfavorable numbers of 2 and 5 is with the use of Fu dogs. When positioned facing outwards on the side of your entrance, they can help to keep bad luck from entering your home. While an entranceway is preferred, they can also be placed on a porch or in the lawn.

As an important reminder, remember that you are unable to change your house numbers. For this reason, do not dwell on them too much.

These are good pointers for most home buyers. It is good to know that inauspicious feng shui can be offset by sensitive decoration and gardening. A water feature in particular, plus a few container plants, can make a small entrance way or draughty courtyard into a very pleasant space.

Do you know if the numbers are added together to get you another number in Feng Shui? Like they do in Numerology (151=1 + 5 + 1=7). This can add more problems in I guess.

I didn't even realize that that could possibly have an effect on anything. It's interesting to learn more about this subject as I have evidently been very underexposed. Thanks for the information.
