The first and most important thing to remember about how to House Train Puppies is remembering that there only a puppy and you can compare them to a small child. The secret to being successful is to love and encourage your puppy. These first few weeks are going to hard enough for them; this is a special time for both of you to. You’re training your puppy now to prepare them for the next 10 to 15 years of their life with you. Be patient and understanding, remember you chose them!

In order to help you succeed I’ve made a list of some important things you should do in the job of house training your puppies or puppy. It’s necessary that you understand that you are the leader and teacher and your puppy will be excited to want to please you and get your praise and affection from a job well done. Be aware though there will be some accidents along the way, but with you continually enforcing the rules the goals you have established for your puppy will be reached! .

Some Do’s to House Train Puppies:

- Make sure your puppy has access to there special spot “toilet spot”.

- Establish a toileting routine every 1 hour when your home to supervise.

- When you’re not home or not able to provide supervision, make sure your dog cannot make a mistake. Provide a small spot that has been puppy proofed. This is where a crate comes in handy.

-Make certain the designated toilet area isn’t similar to the inside of your house. A real good place for your puppy to eliminate is on concrete, blacktop, it’s easy to clean up, or grass or dirt is good. Don’t encourage your puppy to eliminate on anything that is similar to hardwood flooring or carpet.

-Commend and reward puppy when he/she eliminates in the established toilet area. Associate good things happening when they eliminate in the correct spot. Dog treats, playing etc… are considered good treats. Or even a big bone!

- Establishing a routine for feeding, and always ensure a fresh supply of drinking water, not the toilet .A routine feeding schedule ensures a reliable toilet schedule.

- With the use of a crate you can help puppy in a big way, with learning bladder control. As a rule dogs won’t eliminate in there bed area.

- And lastly, it is important that your patient with “House Train Puppies”. House training can take between 2 weeks to a month; some breeds are quicker some longer. Just remember it easier train them now then to have to deal with bad toilet habits later.

Some Don'ts about House Train Puppies:

- Don’t punish the puppy for mistakes. Punishing will only create fear and misunderstanding.

- Keep the feeding schedule in order… this makes the dog's toilet schedule as consistent as possible.

- Don’t let puppy have free reign of the house until he/she has been thoroughly house trained.

House training can be challenging at times, and some breeds are much easier to house train than others breeds. It’s vital that you remain, patient, consistent and loving with your puppy during house training. A hurried, terrified or scared dog is harder to teach the importance of house training. Once you have earned your puppy's love and dedication, you’ll find that house training your puppy is much easier than you ever expected.
