How Can Women Work From Home and Raise Kids Under One Roof?

Working From Home From My Own BackYard

How can a woman become a social networker?

When we, moms, work at home, we love the idea of short commute to kitchen for a cup of expresso in the morning or a cup of hot english breakfast and sit by the bay window looking at everyone rushing to 9-5 job.. I love waking up late and getting on my computer, hear that chirping sound of TweetDeck and check my messages I receive on My Twitter account  However, it is not that simple.

Stay at home moms who work from home require more discipline and they still crave for the interactions with adults.

Are starbucks meetings still alive or dead?

In the past few years there was so much emphasis given to online meetings and social networking that women forget the best gift God gave us- abilty to communicate openly with each other. Women need that as bad as we need chocolate. We crave communication with other women and when we make appointments for meetings at the restaurant or coffee shop it becomes more than just a meeting. We open up and share our life. It becomes our therapy days!

I think we all should never forget that human communication is very important when we are working at home. It keeps our energy levels up and it keeps us sane!

Focus on Yourself Instead of Your Business..

When I started in the big ticket home business industry, I was focusing on the business more than on my personal growth. I did not believe in branding myself and I believed that all that personal development hype was for people who loved attention. Oh boy I was wrong. I was determined to build my business and when I failed I blaimed the company and not ME, talking about constructive critisism!

My point is that we need to learn about ourselves and discover our true passions to be succesful. The only way we can do that is reading and studying successful people and who created success and then we can apply to our business. Then we can manage our life and manage our home, kids and business. We can learn how to create balance because we know who we truly are.

My advice to you would consist of the following principles:

1. Learn about yourself: know your weaknesses and strengths.

2. Focus on managing your emotions and not just time

3. Spend time meditating every day. It will create peace in your mind and you will be more centered.

Life does not have to be hectic...

Virtual world is still a great way to meet potential clients. I think we should have balance in our business and our life. We can be glued to our computer screen 10 hours a day and forget about other responsibilites and in order to prevent that we must create a schedule of our online activities the same way we plan our meetings with our team, clients at Starbucks or a restaurant

My advice is to create a callendar of your daily activities.

1. Go to work at home mom, just women in business forums and message boards

2. Register with online communities such as meet up and myspace

3. Write your blogs every other day with hubpages or wordpress.

4. Schedule all your appointments on the same days.

5. Keep your training schedule on the same days

6. Do not forget to relax!

The idea of branding oneself is so important . . . and setting goals. Even if the work, a stay-at-home mom, dad or single is doing is only noticed by a few people, nevertheless, they have to be diligent to building a solid reputation.

Good input.

I agree branding is all about relating with our prospects and making them feel comfortable with who we are. I am a stay at home, a russian woman, a business owner and love life! My brand is ME. I give advice from my experiences and that is important to me! I have been working from home for 6 years and it was challenging but it is fun. I had stressful moments in my business and my life but I look at them as experiences!

Thank you for your input about branding!

This is some great advice. Your point about discovering your passion is spot on. Knowing your 'why' is essential to success, as it is the why that keeps you going everyday when the dream still seams so far way. For many of us moms they question of why is an easy one.....OUR KIDS : ) They have an endless energy and zest for life & my children are an example & inspiration to me each and everyday. I will take your advice of managing my emotions and not just my time, this one can be a struggle at times when you have so many competing needs to care for.

You and I are so much alike. We both have a big WHY. Our children! When I look at my boys it is not just about me and my business but about me building my future with them and for them! anyone can build a business but juggling business and family is challenging so we must keep ourselves on a tight schedule!

Thank you Shaye and it was good to see you on the training tonight!

Hi Donna and alysunb

Thank you for your comments. Yes I love getting out and meeting with women locally and build relationships and referals. It is very important for us.. It makes us feel better and then everyone is happy! As they say when a woman happy then everyone is happy in the house! That is why we can get burned out and we need time to be away from the house where we work

Hello Tatyana - Thanks for a great hub. I especially like the reminder that we need to focus on ourselves. We rely on ourselves for so many things, yet people are often very hard on themselves.

It's great that you've found work you enjoy. I feel so much better about life, myself, and my family now that I am self-employed doing something I love.

Here is my story : http://www.GinasMoney.com

Thanks for sharing your story!

Jen
