How Can an Entrepreneur Home School? Part 2

Because of this information they decided to challenge him more which seemed to help some. However, his mind was so active and quick thinking I believed that he would never function well in a usual public school class setting.
I spent a lot of time with my son getting him up thru the ranks of grades into high school until finally he was independent and out on his own.
When this son, the youngest of our 6 children was 8 years old, Barbara and I had a beautiful son born which was the only child to be both of ours. Barbara was excited to have a child that tied a bond to all in our family since now everyone in our blended family was blood related to the same person.
I knew again quite early I had another very intelligent child. He spoke his first sentence at 8 months old of 4 words, perfectly formed.
We also discovered early that loud sounds and bright light disturbed him. As he grew and we would get him new toys to play with he would insist that any sound makers be disabled. He wanted no sounds with his toys. He was not content to just have the sound part of the toy turned off. I had to disable it by removing the sound part or the batteries. He wanted no chance of sound coming from his toys.
We introduced him to preschool at 3 years old and many patterns I saw in my other sons started to emerge but there were some new twists. His interests were not the same as the other children. If they in a group activity he preferred to work on his own.
We found that he did not like to touch wet things. This prompted teachers to schedule conferences with us about him not participating in group activities or completing projects such as fingerpainting. We stuck in there with the school and he finished 2 years.
Barbara and I suspected that our youngest son might have some kind of condition beyond or different than ADD which 4 of our other children had been diagnosed with. A couple years later we refined this down to believe it was Asperger's Syndrom, a mild form of Autism. As a matter of fact we became convinced of it.
It would take several years for Barbara to arrange permission for testing from a qualified group of physicians to confirm our suspicions. We finally had the diagnosis when our youngest son was 10 years old.
But at this age of 5 we still had not come up with our theory of Asperger's Syndrom.
Next came Kindergarten.
At our schools they have something they call "Kindergarten Roundup." This was a time when you took your child to school to be tested to see if they were ready to enter Kindergarten. If not they would strongly suggest you wait until the following year to start your young student in the higher education of Kindergarten and for the current year to return him to preschool where they can continue to mold and prepare him.
At this early age, my son and I were having quite intelligent conversations. I would have to say many of them were more intelligent than I would carry with some adults. He was very polite, he had an amazing memory, and I knew he would have no problem at all qualifying to start his Kindergarten career.
