How Congressman Alan Grayson Dissed Me

Congressmen Afraid of Facing Me

Have you had the same bad luck as I've had finding out when your representative in Washington is going to hold a town hall meeting?

Yes, I know, Democrats, after being shouted down so many times by angry senior citizens -- who have legitimate gripes -- there are few brave congressmen around anymore. I'm not apologizing for the seniors. They've got a right to be angry. Heck, anyone would be mad as hell if someone was lying to them and trying to pick their pocket. You would. I would. And that's just what nationalized health care will be. It will mean higher taxes. But worse yet for senior citizens, it will mean rationed care -- all the while, the ten million illegal aliens get first-place-in-the-line, front-line care without rationing. THAT'S JUST PLAIN UNFAIR.

Here's my proposal. The compromise bill should say that the president and Congress get no better health care than the poorest among us, whether he's a child or ninety-nine. Everyone across the board gets the same health care. If one person gets rationed care, we all get rationed care. Nothing more or less is fair.

If you're hiring a house servant do you elevate him to more benefits than you, yourself, can afford for your family? No. But that's just what we've done when we allow congress and the president to have their private health care plan with all the perks and coverages -- free of charge, I might add. While you and I get to pick up the tab. This kind of favoritism has made them prideful, arrogant, and unfit for office.

Why There Are No Confrontational Questions At Obama's Town Hall Meetings?

It's because he won't allow people like you and me in there. He has "stacked the deck."

But I will promise you this: the congressmen who "stack the deck" on these town hall meetings as Obama has done, are through come voting time next November.

By stacking the deck, I mean self-protecting politicians who subvert the true meaning of a town hall meeting and make it a propaganda tool for the left. That's what Obama has done in his meetings. He has an invitation list. If you don't have a ticket, you can't get in because he has his "toughs", I call them thugs, at the door, union rough-house boys who are so big they look like NFL linebackers, to keep conservatives at bay and out of the meeting. If you ask anything controversial, he motions to his thugs to remove you. It's true -- I saw it on TV.

Obama has carefully selected who he will speak to in his meetings -- only the docile, sheep-like Democrats who won't ask tough questions. You don't see any adverse TV coverage, do you? That's the point. He is guilty of excluding public opinion.

I charge the Florida Democrat congressman from District 8, Representative Alan Grayson, with the same unAmerican tactics. UnAmerican? Yes, because these meetings are supposed to be times when the "owners" of government have a chance in person to ask questions and let their views be known. Yes, we the people hire public servants to represent us, not the other way around. We should expect and should get the opportunity to come head to head with our public servants, the congressmen.

I think congressmen, Democrats and Republicans alike, have forgotten that we OWN THE GOVERNMENT, not them. They are our servants, but they don't act like it when they want to spend a half billion dollars to buy four new jets for Democrat sleezebag congressmen; and when they pass secret stimulus bills at 3 a.m. that no one has even read. I say, let them sit in the coach section of the commercial jet airliner and get reacquainted with the people.

Now to Alan Grayson. I emailed him to tell him, among many things, that he did a nice job interviewing Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and to ask when and where the townhouse meeting will be? My emails get returned, stating that "this facility is temporarily out of order." No, the only one out of order is Grayson. Frustrated, I call his numbers in Washington and in Orange County, Florida. No response for several days.

Then, a young man calling himself Tyler calls me with the bad news. There will be no head-to-head meeting with Grayson. He has opted to do a telephone conference and I can push a certain button and que-up to ask my question. His excuse: there are 700,000 people living in district 8, too many to accommodate in a meeting.

No, it's not! Rent a stadium. Let us all come in and vent if we want to. I don't ask for much. Just a chance to ask a simple question. "Are you planning to vote for nationalizing health care?'

If he is, then I will tell him that I plan to mobilize thousands during his re-election campaign to turn him out of office. And, yes, I will show up with friends to shout him off the stage at his political rallies. He doesn't deserve my vote, and the millionaire congressman who defeated Representative Keller a year ago because he had more advertising money deserves to get the door to Washington slammed in his face.

The little Grayson intern, Tyler, was really just testing me. He elongated the conversation after he said he would have someone call me for the teleconference next Thursday at 7 p.m. August 21, 2009. He started telling me how much I would save on my personal heating bill due to Cap and Trade which Representative Grayson voted for. I objected. I knew better. I would be dead and buried before we'd save anything, if even then. Meantime, it means trillion-dollar tax increases.

Intern Tyler also tried to tell me what little he knew about Socialized Health Care. He ran into a whirlwind, a stem winder of opposition from me on that. So I suspect he vetted me and has decided I'm a dangerous guy to be part of his telethon next Thursday, though I'll be standing by to see if he does call me. If he does, I'll report to you on my next Hub on what took place.

Meanwhile, I suggest you read three excellent articles on health care on a blog called Getting America Right. It's my blog. Included there is also one article about Economist Milton Friedman's prediction 30 years ago on the dilution of the American dollar, something that is occurring as I write.

The stories you should read are:

1) "Doctors Will Leave Health Care"

2) "Isn't It Time To Forget What Warren Buffett Says?"

3) "Growing Unrest Over Obama Health Care"

4) "Grassley: Democrats' 'Public Option" Will Lead to Nationalization of Healthcare"

Not All Town Halls Are Created Equal

Representative Alan Grayson has chosen not to have a town hall meeting. Rather he will hide behind the telephone and choose who he will allow to speak. And he's supposed to be a representative of the people residing in Florida Voting District Eight?

Photo shows that when it is convenient for Congressman Grayson, he does hold meetings with people -- but only those who won't embarrass him with sticky questions like: Did you vote for Cap and Tax and for nationalizing health care?

Barak Obama prefers to be seen in public with an audience of friendly Democrats. Bar the door to any of those rabble-rousing Republicans or conservatives, by all means.

Nice Hub. It's the arrogance of most in congress that infuriates those at the town hall meetings. How dare they point fingers at the same people they're suppose to represent? This is the time not to back down.

Thanks, Jiberish. You are right, don't back down. We the older people of the country have far more wisdom and understanding than all of the 48-year-old citizens combined which includes Barak Obama.

I was born in the depression, and if Obama has his way I'll die in a state of depression. If they weren't so darned scared of us, and so darned arrogant and stupid... But I'm happy they are afraid of us conservatives. Someone said that fear of freedom leads to tyranny. And when the despotic politicians fear the people as these people do, that leads to freedom.

Don't misunderstand. There are plenty of people in their twenties through forties that are wise to Obama and his antics. And the number is growing every day. Thank God for them. But the people in Washington generally don't get it. They think that it's okay for them to offend the elderly and those in wheelchairs. Sure take their health care away, it doesn't concern them. But it will. What goes around comes around. Someday they'll be old and some of them disabled. Then they'll wish they had acted more fairly toward this segment of the population. Don

I think these town halls are nothing but staged events. The congressmen do not listen anyway, but it works for p.r. one way or another.

Keep on hubbing!

I am beginning to believe that also, eovery. Too bad, really. I'm still going to wait by my phone to see if this Florida congressman's office does patch me into the townhall on the phone at 7 p.m this Thursday. i doubt it, but....Don

James, I encourage you to do so if you're a conservative, which I know you are. I'll vote for you. I'll speak up for you, I'll get all my friends to vote for you. Do it! Don

I feel it is very unusual that congressman Grayson does not have an office e-mail listed. You can only e-mail him if you go on his web site and e-mail him from there/ Do you have a direct e-mail to his office?

Thanks,

Edward Magee

Thanks Edward, and yes, I subsequently had a telephone conversation with a senior adviser of Congressman Grayson. He gave me an email that didn't work. We discussed several things, including how in a telephone townhall that Grayson held I told them I had a quesiton or two. Actually, I was going to give him a compliment. I did like the way the Congressman stood up to Ben Bernanke in a hearing. He said he was going to sign on to Ron Paul's bill to require the Fed to be audited yearly. But what is that? Mere posturing, knowing Paul's bill hasn't a chance of getting passed by this ultra-left Democrat congress. But just the same, I was going to compliment the Congressman and at the same time be critical. He deserves criticism. I taped the entire phone townhall (see, I'm one of those old timers and still have only a tape recorder), at which I wasn't chosen to ask him anything - because they knew I was too conservative. I counted at least ten things the congresman said that were not accurate or were out and out lies. In addition, when I called in first time to get on the phone townhouse, this assistant named, I think, Tyler told me Grayson wouldn't hold a live meeting. I found out on that Thursday that that was a lie. They held a live meeting on the preceding Monday, but failed to invite me. Like Obama's meetings, it was staged. This other guy, the top aide, said tell me some of the lies. I said, for one, nothing the government has done has been profitable, they have all lost money. I included social security which is bankrupt, medicare and medicaid, the U.S. Post Office, and several more. He said, oh, medicare made money last quarter. I said prove it. Because I know like all the other government run operations, it is defunct too. He was supposed to have gotten back to me with a website where the story could be found but didn't. Thanks for your comment. I'm tired of the lies. I, of course, will be pulling for someone else next November at the polls. I won't vote for a liar.
